This drop point is my first knife in AUS-8 Steel. I'm quite pleased with how it works and finishes, plus it seems to have taken a very nice razor edge. This knife should give good service afield.

Specs:
OAL: 9 1/2"
Blade: 4 1/2" of cutting edge...5" to the scales
ground from 1/8" thick stock
Aus-8 Stainless with a bright machine satin finish
Multi color Micarta laminate handle
Stainless pins
9 oz leather pouch sheath by me

AUS8 is excellent steel
holds an edge for a long time and
seems to be under used
blades' style is right on
all good

Thanks markv! I haven't had much experience with Aus-8 until this knife, but I'm looking forward to making something else with it so I can see how well it takes a mirror polish.
 
EIDO, I actually took a piece in partial trade for one of my knives at a recent show. Until then I had never thought of using it, but my curiosity got the better of me.
As far as working it, I primarily use ATS-34 and I'd say it works very similar to that. I have never made a knife from Aus-8 and mirror polished it, so I don't know how it compares to ATS-34 in that regard, but as soon as I get some more of it to try another blade I'll know.
 
AUS8 is underrated as an EDC, IMHO
Takes a great edge fast and brilliant high polish.

This knife has beautiful lines!
Perfect size. Great price.

Hey Mark.......yea I have been surfing on here, but haven't posted much because I have been catching up on orders and getting knives done for shows. I got a nice drop point fighter I'm thinking about posting on here soon tho, so keep a watch for that one.
