Hi Blade forum Busse fans.

I am new to the world of blade forums and Busse. This seemed like a pretty friendly place, so I thought I would say hello.

I am also posting to request some info regarding purchasing a Busse from the blade forums sale/exchange threads. I see that some sellers only ship to within the US. I imagine that is because they no not want issues of knives getting lost/stolen in the post? Would a UPS / Fed Ex shipment with a tracking number be the way to overcome this? I am only asking as when a mint SFNOLE comes up for sale i want to make sure i can get it to Aus (cash burning a hole in my pocket for one lol).

My second question is, the knife will be a safe queen, (I know, seems a waste not to put a Busse through its paces) and I want to get a custom sheath made for it. I do not want any rub marks to be made on the blade from the sheath, so is Kydex best avoided and stick to a leather one?

Thanks for any advice, great reading the Busse forums, great knives, and great fans I can see ;)

Vampyre.

Welcome, Vampyre! :)

Some folks don't like to ship out of the USA, but others like me don't mind. (Sorry, I have no SFNOLE's for sale at this time). It's really a matter of personal preference, but also, we've heard some 'horror' stories about Australian customs and other nations' customs, and that puts off quite a few people. No one wants to lose a knife they care about. FedEx works, but also USPS Global Express is quite good at getting through, and might be a cheaper option. Personally, I've been lucky with just USPS Intl. Priority to Australia & NZ in the past, but have recently decided that maybe USPS Global Express may be a better choice for both parties in future dealings that I'll be participating in.

Also, there are several Australian members here that have knives listed. You might get lucky and find a new SFNOLE already "down under" looking for a new home.

...And yes, leather would be a better choice for a sheath on a satin finished safe queen, IMHO.

Good Hunting! :)

Welcome Vampyre to the forums!

For most US sellers that I have come across, most are receptive to shipping overseas, provided you pay the additional shipping cost (US to Aussie around US$35) AND agree that if your package goes missing/snatched by customs it is not the seller's fault so long he can provide proof that he sent your package and insured it.

Regarding the sheath, it is not really important to me. What is more importantly is the knife itself, since you are not going to use the knife you don't need a good sheath for it.

G'day Vampyre,
It's actually 4:40 AM here, and I'm not awake enough to try to figure out the daylight and time difference!
Just wanted to welcome you to the forum from the Green Mountains of Vermont, USA.
Good luck on your Busse quest.

Welcome to the forum!
I've shipped twice to Australia without any issue via USPS Express Mail Intl and Global Express Mail.
I think leather would be best to avoid scatches although it too can leave marks.

Thanks Jerry!, I've actually ordered a Boss Street (a great looking knife!) from your website, so the collection is 'under-way' so to speak :)

Thanks for the welcome! A drink is being poured as I write :)

Best bet is to buy direct from Busse whenever possible..or the company store..never a problem shipping to AU. www.bussecombat.com has two nice knives available now and you wont have to pay the premium that the secondhand market can sometimes bring (less so lately but still buy direct from the source if there is something there you like).

run while you can, and don't look back.

just kidding welcome to the madness.

Welcome, there are many many Busse out there, look around and I'm sure you will find a great first knife, then another, then another... =)

Yeah and don't forget to tell him to learn to like eating Ramon Noodles and Hot Dogs.:D

Welcome aboard. This is your last chance to save yourself, when you buy one it is too late mate. :)

welcome to the club. I probably wouldnt get a sheath if your keeping her minty mint. All sheaths can leave marks including leather. All it takes is a rough bit and you got marks.

I personally have no safe queens but I still love my Busse knives

Happy hunting bro
