Australian first time Busse fan

welcome aboard, the only reason you need a sheath is for personal satisfaction of having one, you do not want to store the knife in the sheath, because the acid in the leather can cause problems.
since it will be a collector piece, i would wrap it in wax paper after putting a light coat of mineral oil on it, you can also wax the scales if you would like.
excellent choice of knives to start collecting, remember in collecting always buy knives that you like.

I told you the busse knife forum is a friendly and great group of folks!! You even got a welcome from the BOSS himself.

You are off to a great start....now you will have a far more knowledgable group to ask questions other than myself..but don't be a stranger!! if i can help I always will.... just like all these good folks responding on the thread..alot of them have helped me with info and knives:thumbup:

welcome aboard!! BUT BE FOREWARNED...say good buy to any $$$$$ "burning a hole in your pocket!!!""":p

Wow! What a welcome! ha, noodles and hot dogs huh? Well at least I will be able to slice open the packet and dice the hot dog in style lol :)

welcome.

The absolute best way to get your mits on one is to get a proxy like ME, then buy me a plane ticket over to Australia.............

Just saying;););).

Shoot, for the price of picking up a SNFOLE, you should order a le buswacker direct from Busse, it will be cheaper.

Thanks for the offer BigFattyt lol :) I did see the Bushwacker, but I have my heart set on a SFNOLE.

Cheers for all the other information about the knife storage an sheaths guys :) Much appreciated. On that note about acid in the leather sheath causing problems, if say I HAD to have a sheath for a collector would a cordura one be acceptable? Or something else perhaps?

welcome to the club Vampyre!

Yeah I would think if this is gonna be a safe queen and you are thinking about storing it in the sheath cordura would work. You don't have to worry about the acids from leather, and it won't scuff the blade up like kydex

Oops... I misread his post...

To clarify my first post... Satin goes good with leather, but not to store it in. My bad. Busse safe queens really prefer to be pampered... like resting on silk or satin pillows... Yeah, nice & soft... :foot: ;);)

Actually, I once received a mint Busse ZTBM shipped in a well constructed flannel-lined cardboard blade sheath (that must have been one well-loved safe queen!), so if ya got some old clean flannel layin' around, that would work to wrap it up in., LOL. :D

Welcome to the MADNESS Vampyre!!!

Just don't say nobody warned you... they are not kidding. :p :D

As for storing your safe queen... I wouldn't use a leather sheath.
I have several leather sheaths and some have left scratches down
the length of the blade from inserting & removal.
Doesn't bother me on those blades in particular because they are users.

Like Jaxx said... flannel, silk or the like. Something you can wrap it in
or is so loose, that it's less likely to scratch the blade if there is anything on it.

Another good idea that Mulder shared with me is bore store sleeves.
They also help control the moisture.

Good luck in your hunt... there are lots of Hogs that will ship internat'l so you should be fine. :)

Now RUN!!!!  :D

Hey hey! Welcome to the fun! :D

There's a few Busse fans downunder here, and there's a few around the Brisvegas area that I know of. I'm just up the road on the Sunny Coast.

You'll love your knife, you won't be sorry you made the plunge, but your bank account might be :)

Welcome, Vampyre! :)

Some folks don't like to ship out of the USA, but others like me don't mind. (Sorry, I have no SFNOLE's for sale at this time). It's really a matter of personal preference, but also, we've heard some 'horror' stories about Australian customs and other nations' customs, and that puts off quite a few people. No one wants to lose a knife they care about. FedEx works, but also USPS Global Express is quite good at getting through, and might be a cheaper option. Personally, I've been lucky with just USPS Intl. Priority to Australia & NZ in the past, but have recently decided that maybe USPS Global Express may be a better choice for both parties in future dealings that I'll be participating in.

Also, there are several Australian members here that have knives listed. You might get lucky and find a new SFNOLE already "down under" looking for a new home.

...And yes, leather would be a better choice for a sheath on a satin finished safe queen, IMHO.

Good Hunting! :)
somone lost a Waki to the postal service in aus.
the postal workers just handed it to some stranger when they should have asked for a sig, BS in my book

Yeah that sounds like BS for sure. I'm pretty sure nothing like that would happen with USPS Global Express Guaranteed or similar.
