Just added a heap more Ringed Gidgee blocks to our site http://thetimberjoint.com

Remember, I only harvest from long dead trees, so these are guaranteed to be very dry. Moisture content is usually between 7 - 10%.

Most of the new blocks I have cut from the one tree. I have to say it would be the best tree I have come across, for figure, burl, and colour. Some of these blocks are the most outstanding examples of Ringed Gidgee I have seen. I'm hoping they won't sell so they can make their way into my private stash.

Prices are in Australian dollars, so you still get a fantastic exchange rate.

HI i4Marc, What sized blocks are you after? Just let me know what you are looking for. I have just got a heap of new logs in so should be able to help you out.
Cheers Peter

Just a support post, but Peter's Gidgee is the best of the best. I have never bought better Gidgee, and have never had a better person to deal with overseas. Many folks are wary of ordering from overseas. Sure, the shipping is higher, but in this case, the lower cost of the Gidgee and the highest quality makes it a bargain. Ordering in a larger batch also helps lower the overall shipping cost per block.

If you buy good Gidgee from a state-side supplier, it most likely came from Peter. Buy from the source.

This is one I just did and its chatoyancy is really much more stunning under the sun in real life. The price of the blocks neutralizes the cost of shipping. I have a CPM15V knife that I just put a handle on, too, and it turned out even nicer but I don't have photos of it. And I have another 4 or 5 blocks to use. It's worth it. This wood polishes nicely without any oil, about the same as Gabon ebony. Danish oil darkened it too much. Wood wax left it so so. Tru oil really makes it pop. The fact that this picture was taken at night under unnatural lighting and with a shitty photographer should say something about the wood itself.

This one specifically has a light CA glue finish sanded to 1200 grit and then two coats of Tru Oil.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I'm a believer in only selling quality timber. The timber has to be worthy of the time and effort that the knifemaker puts into his craft. I have got some more Ringed Gidgee that I will be releasing soon as I have just collected another truck load. Watch this space.

Cheers
Peter
