Australian Ringed Gidgee blocks and scales for sale. You won't find Ringed Gidgee any better than this. This beautiful and unique Australian hardwood is exceptional knife handle material. Sourced from dead trees from our outback Queensland property, this timber is ready to go.

Each block is spray lightly with water to show the figure and depth of colour and then photographed from both sides. The block that you see, is the block that you receive.

We have just sold 4 large sets of scales to the USA and it cost him $30(Aus) and someone else bought 2 large blocks (6 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1" and 6" x 2.83" x 1.14") and they also cost $25 (Aus) to send.

You could fit 3 blocks that are 6" x 1 3/4" x 1 1/4" into a $30(Aus) bag.

Our website will calculate it for you when you put it into your cart.

All the blocks are weighed and then a total is calculated at the checkout before you buy. The 4 sets of scales weighed under 1 kg. The 3 blocks also weighed just under 1 kg. The 4 blocks that you bought weighed 1.98 kg. It actually cost us $62.50 to post them. We don't charge for handling. We are trying to subsidise the postage and make the blocks affordable for anyone who is interested.

I'm not complaining, just stating that I was charged more than you quoted in post #5. You did say they were large sets. Were mine larger?

Even at $12.50/block for postage the price is reasonable when compared to good koa.

I can personally vouch for the quality of this wood, it is excellent. The price you have to pay for hard dense wood in big blocks is unfortunately in the postage. When you finish off a handle in it though you will realize it is all worth it.
 
Are there any customs issues when importing wood into the U.S.? I assume duty will have to be paid based on the purchase price?

I've visited your website and tried to purchase two blocks, but I think the shipping calculation on the site is incorrect. If I try to purchase two blocks, it appears as if your site is calculating my shipping as if I want to have each piece shipped separately to the U.S.A.

The two blocks have a combined weight of .75 kg, yet the shipping calculation on the website says that it will cost me $90 AUD ($79 USD). Your message above indicates that any shipment between .500g - 1 kg should cost approximately $35 AUD (~30 USD).

I've sent two emails and tried to phone call you twice to get this order placed.

Hi Mike,

Sorry about that. We have been out at the property getting some more ringed gidgee. It is very isolated and doesn't get mobile or internet service. We have only just got back today. We have also fixed the shipping problem. Gotta love technology don't you!! Sorry about the mess up. Cheers Peter
 
As mentioned above, my issue has been taken care of and my blocks are on their way to the USA with very reasonable shipping costs.
