Greetings All, I've noticed that what suppliers sell as Loveless bolts don't look the same on the show side of the handle. Anyone out there make the real deal, and if so how do you do it?

Best regards, TK

I don't make them, but I used to use them.................The original Loveless bolts consisted of 1) a stainless steel, slotted, flathead machine screw; 2) a thick brass washer that was partially countersunk to accept the head of the machine screw, and 3) a round brass threaded nut. When assembled in the knife handle, the head of the machine screw was on the mark side. When the handle was shaped, the slotted surface of the machine screw was ground down. The head of the screw left a larger diameter stainless steel "spot" than on the opposite side, where the diameter of the spot was only the diameter of the threaded part of the machine screw.

You'd always see a little "smile" on the opposite side too where the threads came through the screw.

I've done a couple of loveless type screws using a 32 TPI, but didn't much care for due to the threads giving that "smile" you mention. Any idea what TPI the true Loveless fittings used?
