I will be posting pics later tonight as I am currently unable to with this computer. I have been given some blades by 2 different people to sell. I am trying to get as much info and authenticate them before listing.
I have a knife in the diagram of the Hitler Youth models that has an obviously older/aged blade in good shape with an old leather piece on the hilt and "solingen" on one side and a proof mark of a small little cottage on the other (anyone know that maker??) . It has the replacement boyscout fleur de lis and the STEEL scabbard is NOT lipped and fits tight. It still has an old piece of ragged leather were the belt leather USED to be attached. Would this knife be a converted HY that was surplus after the war or a post war mfg?
The next one is a similar design German Fire bayonet with what I think was all german etching on one side that said "A.F. Ziegler" "Solingen" and maybe a few more characters......all on one side. It is longer than the scout knife and has a cheaper feeling pot metal lipped scabbard. Did they produce fakes or copies of this type knife?
The last is a ww2 era Japanese Katana missing the handle with a brass ring near were the hilt is. It is in it's original wooden scabbard with two Japanese characters on the wood scabbard but no characters on the blade. Steel appears to be high quality and VERY clean and sharp blade and edge. The wood scabbard has the brass ring with the mum belt swivel attached. When I post pics would anyone be able to tell me what the Japanese characters say?
Pics will be coming tonight.
