Authorized Strider dealers with ARs?

L.O. Little, hey quit interrupting my play with the AR. ;) Just kidding. The blade on my AR is stamped BG-42. I have no problems with this because I can't see selling this knife to someone else--ever! It came wrapped in newspaper with no instructions but I was well prepared on what to do: 1. Wipe drool from mouth. 2. Push eyes back into socket. 3. Holster bulge between legs 4. Engage brain.
5. Open knife.

I've thought about the "snafu" and wondered if there would be any other unique features of this run that would help identify it as an S30V in BG-42 clothing. Maybe. I'm not sure about all of the other AR runs but the clip on mine is black and most of the photo's I've seen seem to show a shiny silverish finished clip. Black is beautiful, imo.

I've started the Armchair Commando trials and cut a Minute Maid plastic juice bottle in half--just for fun. No problem. Yeah, I know that was lame but there was nothing else close by that was interesting enough to cut. You just never know when one of those juice bottles might just turn on you--it pays to be prepared. I'll take a hike this weekend and try to get real then.

Kinda big for an EDC but what the heck I'll give it a try.

toothed, I cant wait till I can play "Armchair Commando" with an AR, especially one with a black clip! I wonder if that does identify it as a S30V. Maybe Mick will tell...

tom poe, if you'd like, email me for a list of dealers I'm watching. I'd be glad to help you find an AR.

If it helps at all, my AR says S30V on the blade, and the clip is silver. Toothed, congratulations on your new AR. I got mine a few weeks ago, and the "WOW" factor still hasn't worn off.

I remember reading that the tiger stripes on S30V is a sort of blueish color, and BG-42 (and ATS-34) tiger stripes are sort of redish brown. If yours is tiger striped then this may help. If I am wrong, please someone correct me. Thanks, Reagan

Hi,
just registered on this forum. My name is Jan and I'm from Germany. Knives have been my hobby for a while (EDC: BM 910 Stryker and Busse Assault Shaker) but now I want to get serious: I, like many more people out there, am eagerly waiting to become a Strider owner. I have a GB on order with Strider's German dealer and if I'm lucky I might even get my hand on a BT-SS. We'll see!
That being said: Mick, any idea when that batch of knives might make it across the pond to your German distributor? Thanks!
Waiting is just so tough!

Okay….

Sorry, Im not sure when our next shipment goes out to Europe, but I do know that it will be soon.

You can ID the miss-stamped AR/GB’s by two things.
1. They have a larger stop pin than you are used to seeing. (kind of hard I know).
2. S30V is not black when it comes back from HT. Therefor to add the tiger stripes, we Black Oxide the blades before striping them. (This is basically the same process that makes the blades black in HT). You can tell its an S30V blade by the fact that there is no color variation in the black part of the stripes. There is no red or other colors, just black.
3.* Most of them have black belt clips.

I swear we’ll get the stamping right one of these days.

Mick

Also....
All S30V blades have a little different STRIDER stamp.
I don't think we made any BG blades with the new stamp.

Mick, thanks for the info. As a BG-42 Sebenza owner who at one point thought about buying a S30V Sebenza, that info ("You can tell its an S30V blade by the fact that there is no color variation in the black part of the stripes. There is no red or other colors, just black.") helps a lot.

BTW Mick, my decision to buy a S30V AR, rather than a S30V Sebenza, is a high compliment to you & your company. You & Chris Reeve have some of the most loyal customer base I've ever seen. Excellent products, excellent service & HONESTY make that happen.

I might be speaking prematurely, but I have a VERY strong feeling that once I actually get an AR, it will be my new EDC. I hope to order one 8 days from now...

Mick,
let me second L.O. Little on the compliments towards your company. I also decided to get the GB without ever handling one myself; the decision was made because of all the posts I read about the quality and toughness of Strider knives. Ok, AluminumOvercast's pictures played a role, too. I'm looking forward to replacing my BM Stryker as everyday carry. I hope the US dollar is still weak against the Euro currency when the knives get here, so I'll be getting a good deal!:D:D

J.Vervoorst, if you like your Styker, you will LOVE a GB! I carried a Stryker for years. The GB is, to say the least, in another class. It feels even better in the hand than a Stryker, which I believe is saying a lot. The blade is the thing, though, It's the best made/designed Americanized Tanto blade I've ever seen.

BTW, I found my dealer. I'd mention his name, but I don't know if he wants too many people know he's getting some ARs/GBs. He should have mine by next Friday. I hope to have it by August 7.

L.O.L., I thought you had already mentioned that you were getting one from Matt Donohue? I doubt he would mind if his name were mentioned. I got an AR from him several months ago, and he's a great guy to do business with. That was a BG42 AR and the S30V AR that I had ordered directly from Strider 5 months ago, is finally due to arrive at my doorstep on Monday!

I was searching for the pics that someone posted showing the new Strider logo and I can't find it.
Can anyone help me out with that? I want to check mine.

I started this thread with:

"My wife & I will have our 4 year anniversary August 1. The AR will be my little anniversary present to myself..."

Life is not simple, but it is good. Matt Donohue called me about an hour ago. Tomorrow, August 1, I will be the proud owner of a S30V AR, with double thumblugs, no less! All along, I'd planned to send it in to have double thumblugs installed. Because Matt had the presence of mind to order some with them pre-installed, I don't have to part with my new AR. It's marked BG-42, but I don't care.

This looks to be an EXCELLENT anniversary!

P.S. It has the black clip, too.

Congratulations, Lynn--both on your anniversary and your new AR. Will these two events have an effect on the facial expression of the "thing" in your avatar? (I might actually miss the guy). :)
