Sal -- I was browsing at www.tinives.com site and saw their Hybrid series of auto knives.

This really struck as being similar to your C59 Shabaria

Any connections?

Titan - I didn't know the Tinives piece was an auto? I thought it was a manual one hand opener (using the depression in the blade). The button I thought was for lock release. Their unique construction is their main feature.

There is no connection in the design though. The Shabaria design originated with Bradichansky. Based on the regional Jordan Valley design that has been in existence there for 1600+ years.

The original model had a 5.5" blade (Sorry YeK & Jim) and was quite impressive but much too large to be practical. Eduard redesigned the piece into the current 4" model which we are currently producing (should be out early September).

Sal,
The auto TiKnives are new I believe. They seem to look identical, though less fancy than the first ones they sold.

Thanks for the reply, Sal. I guess TiNives are not that well known, yet. I read that some of their autos sell for $1000 -- and worth it according to some owners.

Here's a pic of the above knife's innard:

Although, they also sell manual versions of their auto.

I wouldn't be surprised if they also got their design inspiration from the bladesmiths in Jordan Valley...
