autumn/halloween traditionals

Lots of great knives. Its funny because the first thing that came to mind is Case in Autumn bone.
I have to second the GEC 72 choice. Its a terrible picture, but an outstandine knife

I'm really liking this handle material (burnt orange bone?) but it seems like there is quite a bit of variation between specimens. Some look like yours with a very notable burnt look and others look like the ones seen earlier in the thread with almost no burnt look. I really like the darker examples, unfortunately I can't find any patterns in it except the Ben Hogan which is just a little too "out there" for me.

Can't really speak to the Halloween state of mind, but as for Autumn and deer season what came to mind first for me is a nice warm Burnt Stag.

Those look pretty nice, I'm assuming the one on the left is a GEC (possibly a #73) but what is the one in the middle?

Cheers

Yes that is a GEC, and two from Amherst Cutlery. The one in the middle is an "Upswept Carver" prototype, and the other is an unmarked, or "streile" Peanut.
The Carver would probably work real nice on a pumpkin.
I was lucky enough to win both of those knives here in the Traditional Forum.

This Lanny's Clip Jr. has some nice autumn color to it:

Ed J, that big yellerish copperlock is the nuts. I like how the long pull goes right to the plunge-- not too long or short. It's also got the smaller center pin, which I prefer. Nice shot.

Thanks for the comments, Jeff. I like that one, too; I carry it some. I wish Case would use more smooth yellow bone.

Cheap but really nice, my recommendation would be any of the Rough Riders in orange smooth bone.
I bought a peanut with the intention of dyeing the bone black, and I only just managed to persuade myself to do it after promising myself I'd buy another and keep it orange.

I usually dislike the color orange, but when I opened the package, I was taken aback by how gorgeous the knife looked. A very rich orange, completely unlike the photos, which went beautifully with the subtle yellow tone of the bolsters.

You've inspired me to order one, it's going to be my Halloween knife :D

How about a #19 Schatt and Morgan "Autumn Maze" Corncob Jigged Bone, SFO 1 of 50?

I feel your pain. I love autumn and grew up in four seasons (farm in Southern Ohio) until moving to Texas before my junior year in high school. I could live with 8 months of fall, 3 of Spring, and one month split between Summer and Winter. Sadly, since 1996 (though I love the high school sweetheart I moved back to Texas to marry 15 years ago after 21 years apart.) I've been living near San Antonio, Texas. It's been running over 100 for weeks now. It's like the reverse of the joke we had in Alaska. I love summer in Alaska. All two days of it. Except here it's I love winter in Texas. All two days of it. Fall just doesn't exist here in any real way.

I came across the new Case autumn jigged bone (not the barnboard, the new one with the brass shield). I really like the handle material but there's a problem; someone at Case decided it would be a good idea to release "autumn jigged bone" in December... Maybe I'll pick one up for next year.

Just picked this one up yesterday. Case Cheetah Cub in persimmon orange bone.

CASE Humpback Stockman in Harvest Orange pocket worn has very nice mellow tones.

Actually, Queen Cutlery's Amber Carved Bonestag can be rich on many examples.

I have a GEC 66 Serp Jack in a very beautiful orange jigged bone that is fiery. Would have liked the Pumpkin Patch on that knife but it was sold out. GEC's Rotten Banana Bone could give you the idea of damp funghi/autumnal rot.. after a few drinks!

This is the knife I posted about on page one of this thread. It got to me and here are my pictures of it. It will surely get anyone in the mood for Autum and the Halloween Season.

Dark Amber Bone handles with a laser engraved barb wire pattern in the bone.

Actually, those were not official Halloween editions. They were a run done for SMKW. Cool none the less!
