Autumn Leaves and Winter

Thanks Bushman5.
These are everything I'm using so far.

Camera: Ricoh GR digital (first model, obtained three years ago)
Telephoto: Kowa field scope TSN-884 with 30x eyepiece, mounted on Gitzo 1297.
Macro: GR built-in macro function.
Photo retouch: GIMP-2.2 on Linux 2.6.26-2-686 GNU/Linux

Telephoto shots are taken trough field scope, the camera is attached at the end of scope.
The peregrine falcon shots I posted before are taken by this method.
It's like muzzle loaded single shot rifle compared to single lens reflex photo devices. :(

He's a senior bird. Looks very much experienced and confident.

This is a young bird, born this spring. Looks quite healthy and strong.
Doing very well so far.

Those shots reminded me of this painting. Perhaps you and the painter had the same "moment" when you looked at that bird.

Great pics. I really like scenes where the sunlight is coming right through the colored
leaves to the eye of the observer; what a light show. I do not even smoke, anything ; )

I also liked the bird pic, where the limbs, in the foreground, were left out of focus.
Too often photographers will pass up an opportunity to take such a picture.

Thanks, BlackHills for your favorable response.

And untamed, never thought I will see 枯木鳴鵙図 (Koboku Meigeki Zu, Shrike calling on the dead tree) of Miyamoto Musashi in this WSS.
And thanks for your kind words.

Here's the shrike, the bird drawn in the picture you mentioned.
And she is the bird I said in the OP. Her winter territory involves my guarden.

She came into this tree chasing those sparrows.

Shrike is a predatory and solitary spice with lightening action and aggressive temptation.
Here's a male bird, with more conspicuous plumage.

They have very interesting ability to mimic other birds voices. I've heard they mimic
sparrows, finches, buntings, swallows, thrushes, warblers and bulbuls.

Thanks, fnc.
My optics has quite shallow depth of field and I have no mean to change it
as I'm taking telescopic photoes through field scope.
Sometimes it is good as you mentioned, but sometimes, I have nothing but blurred images.

Outstanding photos indeed! The first two have a sense of depth and scope that I find difficult to achieve when taking photographs of woodland settings.

They really do! Subarashii! Superb colors as well.

Interesting to learn that!

Like Musashi, a master of tactics! A true bushi!
