Took the little one for a picnic and a hike the other day, thought I’d share some pics.

She is never still, so she ran circles around the picnic area while I got out the food and drink…then we had some fried chicken, some rolls, a little cheese and some juice.

Then we rode out to a bluff to see the view.

As I said before, she’s almost never still…

But, she will stop to pick the flowers :)

A shot of my light load, the knife is the Fiddleback Hunter, and it’s in a sheath made by Craig Anthony. Loving both very much.

A shot of the moon through the trees.

Saw what I think is a large gray rat snake about 6 feet long.

A hawk who wouldn’t let me anywhere near him…

Some tracks, a coyote, a large feral canine (looks like wolf but they say there aren’t any here), and what could be some bear tracks.

Excellent pictures as always!! Fried chicken and cheese, now that's a picnic!!

I miss having one that age. The look of concentration on her face as she is slicing the cheese is precious! That is a "print-and-keeper"!!

Thanks for the pics. And I'm glad I am about to eat dinner myself, otherwise I would be needing to find something to munch on ;)

I agree 110%

Another Great post!!!

Thanks Bill, glad you liked the post!

Yep, she's stepping into things just as my oldest hits adulthood. They've given me lots of gray and kept me young in many ways all at the same time. I always have to take something along for her to work on her knife handling skills, we both love cheese so it makes a good choice. I have several dozen I need to print off, I rally should get to that sooner than later...

Glad you enjoyed them man, not as much fun to take the kid to the woods and not have a picnic too :)

Thank you and yes I am, very much so. I enjoy as many of the moments as I can, I already know how quickly they will pass. We usually do have a great time when we hit the woods. I like watching the look I like the cooler months more because I can relax a little and let her wonder and explore more without so worrying as much about spiders and snakes.

Stay safe over there, and thank you for your service!!

Great adventure. After my 8 yr old daughter saw the slicing cheese pic she was inspired. She told me; You can hold the food, while I cut it with your knife!

Looks like you two had a blast out there. As always the pic's are awesome! Glad to see the sheath is holding up for you. The wife and i can't wait till our move is done and can get out there with our young ones. Enjoy the moments while you can my friend, they do go by quickly. Looking forward to your next outing. Oh yeah I almost forgot, fried chicken and cheese is the bomb!!!!! :D

My nephew would agree with you 1000% here. Every time I take him out he makes sure I pack some food for us to eat. He favors Ramen, usually. Sometimes he like some sort of cheese and chip/cracker and some for of meat. (Jerky or ham, usually)

I just love this time of year. The colors of the trees look spectacular. That sheath makes your Hunter sing. The little one looked like she was having a great time with dad. Great photography work as usual.

Beautiful pics and day with your daughter. Is that a Sursum (sp?) knife she is using?
