Autumn Picnic & Hike With The Little One

Great adventure. After my 8 yr old daughter saw the slicing cheese pic she was inspired. She told me; You can hold the food, while I cut it with your knife!

Yeah, she tried this with me at first and I told her the one doing the cutting does the holding too! I have yet to let her use a really sharp knife but she is good about keeping her fingers out of the cut.

Looks like you two had a blast out there. As always the pic's are awesome! Glad to see the sheath is holding up for you. The wife and i can't wait till our move is done and can get out there with our young ones. Enjoy the moments while you can my friend, they do go by quickly. Looking forward to your next outing. Oh yeah I almost forgot, fried chicken and cheese is the bomb!!!!! :D

Thanks Craig, yep we had a great time, she likes picnics and hikes. The sheath is doing great, still loving it. I already know, seems like yesterday it was the oldest daughter out there with me, time really does fly by. Yep it's a hard to beat combination of finger food, and something she knows she gets to cut :)

Brian, great pics as always:thumbup:

Bryan

Thanks Bryan, glad you enjoyed them.

Thanks for the pics...Where did you hike?

It's a WMA over in the next county to the west of me. It's cool because it's only ten minutes away and almost 30,000 acres of woods.

My nephew would agree with you 1000% here. Every time I take him out he makes sure I pack some food for us to eat. He favors Ramen, usually. Sometimes he like some sort of cheese and chip/cracker and some for of meat. (Jerky or ham, usually)

Gotta pack some food, it's a comfort/fun thing! It's about time I do some cooking while we're out. I have a friend that makes awesome jerky, but she says it's too spicy...

That is a beautiful place . Thanks for posting.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff glad you enjoyed the photos, we really enjoy going out there.

I just love this time of year. The colors of the trees look spectacular. That sheath makes your Hunter sing. The little one looked like she was having a great time with dad. Great photography work as usual.

This is definitely my favorite time of year, the photos don't ever do the colors justice. The sheath looks great and works great too. I like how it rides and I love the retention.

Precious times, I really miss those.

Great scenery, too.

Yeah, if it weren't for the little one I'd be sorely missing the times like this with my oldest. As it is she still goes with me sometimes and our conversations have changed much over the years.

Beautiful pics and day with your daughter. Is that a Sursum (sp?) knife she is using?

Thanks man, it was a great day out. Yep it sure is, that is one John (Sursum Owner) gave her a little over a year ago. She always makes sure I have her knife too.

Looks like an awesome time with your girl. Great pictures too!

What an exquisite memory that will be for her and a fine start to a collection. The two of you will obviously share a lifelong connection to edged steel.

Yep, a fond memory for me too.

Yeah, we share a fondness for edged steel, the woods, and cheese...but now I have someone I have to share my blue cheese dressing with :grumpy: :D That's something I've never had to worry about before...

Really nice trip out there !! Great foliage and wildlife.
My trip durations are getting limited with my son ( 9) because we're hitting below 0 deg.C here and I can't make fires where I go. You're area still looks pretty mild weather-wise. Kids are great fun in the woods !

Thanks for sharing. Looks like a special day for you both! Beautiful area to spend the day!

Thanks for the kind words guys. Our colors seem to be really nice this year, and yes our weather is still really mild, only pretty cool at night yet and even then not bad at all.

great pics brother. she sure is a cutie. I'm not sure there is much better way to spend a day beside w/ the little one, nature and fried chicken :)

only if you found buried treasure would it get any better than that. great post. cheers

WOW !! Your little one is growing like a weed !! LOL
Great pics Sir !! Enjoy and cherish these moments with all your heart because before you know it she'll be a teen or all grown up..

Thank you, glad you enjoyed the post, and isn't she though! I was just looking through the pics from our first hike yesterday. This is the second time around for me so I already know to take in as much as possible and just how quick it really will pass. Much MUCH quicker than you think during all of the 2:00 am feedings and diaper changes that's for sure!!
