Any word as to the availability of the SEAL 2001 in the USA and the price? Also is it that much better than the SEAL 2000?

Any pics of the SEAL 2001 available?

Holy S**t.

(excuse me....)

I think I just found the knife I want. Are they available in the USA and for how much? If not, I don't particularly care about having "SEAL 2001" stamped on the blade. So is there another way like there is for the standard SEAL 2000 where you order a BT w/ serrations?

Hi Kampfjaeger:

Go through the Strider forum archives on this subject and you should find tons of information. Try the search function on top of this page. Type "SEAL" in the keyword search and make sure you choose to search under Strider forum. Should you need more information, try another search under the keyword "XM" which belongs to the SEAL2001 series. Hope this helps.

Hi Researcher... Obviously from my previous post, I got a look at the SEAL 2001. It was on a Japanese website. That in and of itself surprised me as Yama****a is such a traditional Irish name

I looked up the XM info from the previous posts as you suggested, and the only thing I came up with was that the XM-05 was the only XM model being produced. I couldn't find anything in reference to price though.

Has anyone here used or actually held an XM model? How does it compare (TO YOU) to the BT?

No Kampfjaeger, I wish I've handled the knife before. But it can be ordered directly with Strider though.

SEAL2000 = BT + SPINE SERRATIONS($325+$50)

I speculate the price of a SEAL2001 is around $400 or more because of its increased size.

Hi

I may be missing something in the thread

....

But do a search on: 'SEAL 2001' that might help.

hey guys,

it's my understanding that the SEAL 2000 was only offered in japan for around $700-750. the SEAL 2001 that is in production will be an overall larger knife with around the same price tag. if you would like a SEAL 2000 but without the markings or cost, get a BT w/serration's and striping. i should have mine next week (i'll post some picks when i get it).

i believe the top knife in the photo is the new SEAL 2001.

here is something else to make your decision a little more difficult....

The first picture shows the 3 of the xperimental knives evaluated before Strider Knives chose a design. XM-01 to XM-03. The top knife is actually XM-03

In total 6 designs were evaluated XM-01 to XM-06 of which the design XM-05 was chosen.
Which is the SEAL 2001.

I agree...Strider makes way too cool stuff.
Love the new "bowie" style.

Hope that helps

HC Leo,

do you know what the difference is between the ones pictured and the '05? seems like i've seen them all together in a pic but i can't quite remember where that picture was located at. personally, I would like to get my hands on the '01.

killerkain

has the new bowie style been given a name yet?

KillerKain, that was unkind of you to post pics of the new bowie style. Just when I thought I had settled on a style I liked.... I wonder if I would be able to get it with serrations on the spine. Hmm... I'm going to have to think on this a bit. I AM looking for a USER - one that I can use in the bush or underwater. And therefore I want to have the grip be one that is the same no matter how I take it in hand. I think the new bowie style strongly lends itself to a "sabre-grip." Perhaps Mr. Strider or one of his guys might have something to say on the topic or some advice?

From the pictures, besides the middle fixed blade XM-02 not having any spine serrations, by looking carefully you will notice the spine serrations of the bottom blade are deeper and not as frequent. The top blade has shallower serrations and more of them.
The best people to tell us more on the differences and similarities to the XM-O5 would be the Mick or Duane.

As far as the new "bowie" design, I have not heard of a new name yet,but that was a whle ago, they may have something now. Apparently you can pre-order them from Tripleaught.

as i'm writing this i have the larger of the "New Bowies" beside me.the handle lends itself to both a "sabre grip" and an "icepick grip".the balance is superb!it slashes, chops and stabs like a dream.truly a masterpiece!!
of course i may not know what i'm talking about since Tom Mayo has decided i have "IQ digits" leaking out my head.

Hey SOE: Where did you get those Bowies and how much did you pay for them?

I sent 4 e-mails asking about the S2001 over a 2 week period. Called more times than I can remember never getting a human, just a answering machine. Never recieved a call back.

Recieved 2 seperate e-mail answers one from Mick and one frome Duane.

Sent 2 more e-mails asking for clarification of the different info on the 2 e-mails. No Reply dealing with purchasing a S2001. The last e-mail I recieved said something to the effect that they have t-shirts and stuff avaible and to swing by the shop if possible when on vacation out in San Diego However, no reply about purchasing a S2001.

Tried calling several more times, no joy

Sent 2 more e-mails, no reply.

Hell I sold a Randall #1 so I could purchase a Strider and was unable to talk to anybody, let alone get instructions on how to purchase one. Was told to go to a dealer but no dealer had what I wanted or gives a military discount.

Gave up after trying for 5 weeks and spent the money on something else

Guess they pick and choose who to do business with and I'm not good enough.

Researcher,
Contact Triple Aught at info@tripleaughtdesign.com, they are supposed to be getting a batch sometime from the Strider guys. Don't know the price yet.

Shrike9... I'm looking for specific information about specific models of Strider knives. Not interested in hearing your whining. Troll on someone elses post please.

Researcher: I think the SOE folks have the knives because they make the sheaths for strider knives. Well, the cordura parts anyways. One of the Strider folks hopefully can clarify this.
