Well said, Ray. Any American who's paying attention will probably be worried, and ALL should.

I don't think either political party stands for the 2nd ammendment. An unarmed populace is much easier to control. The Republicans talk a better story, but have beena part of the ever encroaching legislation at least since '68.

The 4th ammendment has been toast since the war on drugs got going and the Patriot act is making short work of the 1st.

I have been voting Libertarian for the last couple of elections (New Mexico has the highest % in the nation) even though I disagree strongly with some of their positions.

Some very interesting points by Ray... I also agree with Fitzo's original intent of the post. I saw Brian's post referring to Dick's "weapon."

According to my old trusty Random House:

weapon (wep'en) n. 1. any instrument or device used in fighting. 2. anything used against an opponent as in a dispute.

So maybe it was a weapon, as he shot poor 'ol Whittington in the face, neck and chest because he thought Whittington was after his covey of birds! :p :D

The whole thing is pretty whacky. I think John Stewart's Daily Show that was dedicated to it was hilarious. HILARIOUS! :D

I'll add that I don't really understand how some people label themselves so strongly as one party, one allegiance, etc. I tend to support what I believe in or feel strongly about, that would make me part liberal, part conservative, part Democrat, part Republican... part Canadian... oh wait.

It seems if you're so strongly against another side... as in Ann Coulter, then you're beating on your chest supporting everything your side does. Like Bill Buxton pointed out sometime back, if you're going to support your party to the end, then you'd vote for Elmer Fudd if he was on your party's ticket.

Can't we all just get along? :p :D

Matt,

Any profession that makes its coin from the suffering of others, deserves hatred. They just happen to be on the top of my short list.

Tow truck operators in some cases. Three hundred dollars for a tow plus storage, etc. Bottom of the barrel in my book.

Hey Guys..

Well the word "weapon" when talking about a firearm, especially a sporting arm is one of my HUGE Pet Peeves..

It absolutely Drives me crazy when I hear people calling sporting arms "weapons"..

I hang around on several different air gun forums, and the Brits in my opinion are the Absolute worst for calling what firearms they have left "weapons".
Thet openly call their air rifles"weapons" both in the forums and in print (UK air rifle magazines)..

First of all, a firearm doesn't become a weapon unless it is intended or used against another human being. For that matter, this also includes knives and any other objects that can be used for "weapons".

A ASP baton, machinegun, handgrenade, dagger, tear gas grenade or spray, brass knuckles and a number of other things that are strictly weapons, intended to cause injury or death to another human.

However to lump all firearms, knives or anything else that goes Bang into the catagory of "weapons" is Absolutely Wrong, and Really steams my clams!

BTW.. My favorite Dick Cheney T-shirt so far reads:

"I'd rather Hunt with Dick Cheney, than Drive With Ted Kennedy"!

ttyle

Eric....
