These will now be available only at the
2009 DENVER CUSTOM KNIFE SHOW
August 21st,22nd and 23rd
For Sale Australian Burl Corrugatta
$10 OFF the price on the chart below per block through Saturday, 8/2 ....First come, first served. Since I'm below cost, unfortunately no free shipping with this offer. This offer goes for all the Australian Burls I have on the forum.
Thanks to Will Levitt I have a new (used) Burr King to pay for.
Guys, as you can tell from the pictures, this is exceptional stuff. All professionally stabilized by River Ridge Products who do a wonderful job. This wood is hard and heavy. I weighed it against the maple burl that I had done and block for block, this is running about 40% heavier. It polishes out like glass. I have only a limited amount as I sell my surplus to help offset what it costs me. Like many of you, I got tired of trying to find quality burl in the market without paying through the nose for substandard burl. Check it out. If you want some, just reply with the piece number(s) in your post so we can keep it straight. Prices are on the chart below. They vary by sizes.
# 4 & 6 are sold
If youre not familiar with Australian Burls, like Snakewood an some Ironwood, they are very prone to checks before and after stabilizing. Checking is normally found around the eyes in a burl. It's a way for the burls to deal with the intense heat in the areas that they grow. Its not uncommon for the temps to reach 130 degrees. By checking they are releasing stress. Checks are not the same as cracks which go deep in a piece of wood. Any knifemaker can tell you that if after shaping your handle you find a check, all you need to do is mix up some of the sawdust with a little epoxy, Acri-glass or even Zap-a-Gap and fill the checks. Sand the excess and youre done. I can send a small packet of species appropriate sawdust with your order if you like.
Once these 8 blocks of Corrugatta are gone, they're gone. I do have some Concinna Burl that I need to clean up that I'll post in a few days.
Price: as per chart; plus $5.00 shipping to the continental U.S. for up to three sets. Buy four or more and Ill pay the shipping.
Overseas buyers pay actual freight and only Paypal is accepted for out of the U.S. sales.
Paypal: paypal@jarrettknives.com
Thanks for taking a look.
