Here is a set of knives in M4 that I made for myself, but I'm moving in a few weeks and I need the cash to set up my new shop. I made these in an imitation of a set of knives my dad got while in Brazil. We always took them camping, and used them around the yard. The big knife would cut through anything, and the small one could do the little things that the chopper was too awkward for. I made these as a tribute to those knives of my dad's

Big chopper: 17.25" overall, 12" blade
Utility knife: 8" overall, 3.75" blade
Steel: cpm M4 hardened to 60 and 62rc for the large and small knife respectively
Guard: 416 stainless
Handle: ironwood burl

The price is SOLD shipped conus

Wow ! Very Beautiful with graceful, clean lines. The Chopper looks too classy for me to have the guts to use it. But i really do like both these knives and the substantial sheath compliments them well. Your asking price is most reasonable considering the amount of materials and the skill of your work.
Does M4 at this high Rc risk edge chipping when used for a Chopper ?

I've found that M4 does very well at a hardness of 59-60 for a chopping knife. I have them heat treated by Bos, and when they come back to me I test them by chopping hardwood, antler, and a 1/8th" diameter brass rod, and I have never had chipping with M4 at 60rc. I have found this to be case with 3V as well, and even A2 I get up to 59 before I see much chipping. If I'm using 1095, I keep it at 57-58 for a big knife.

Wow seams to be the common theme here, and it is well deserved. Thats is a beautiful set of hard working knives right there!

Rob, i would LOVE to buy this set, as would many others, i'm sure. But for most of us $700 is a lot to spend on a discretionary item; more than we have 'lying around'. But this is not a reflection of what i or others think the value is here. It's a stuningly beautiful set of knives & sheath, which in addition are also tough enough to be stand-out performers in real world chopping and cutting uses.
I think their value is higher than the $700 price, and that this set is an extraorinarily good deal for whomever can afford it.
My congratulations and respect to you for such excellent design & workmanship.
