These are natural blocks of Eastern hard maple. Not stabilized. They are dense and hard, many years dry. Stable and ready to use. All of these are large full size blocks. Every one is completely solid and defect free as far as I can tell. No visible splits, checks or cracks anywhere.
These really have excellent BOLD tigerstripe/curl figure end to end. I don't come across tiger maple this bold very often.
These can take a beautiful oil finish either natural or stained/dyed. Here's a sample of a finished piece. I've contoured and sanded it to 1000 grit and stained it with Fiebing's brown leather dye on half and left half natural. Then I finished the whole piece with an oil finish to show the beauty and boldness of a finished piece, whether left natural or stained.
These blocks are all 2" x 5" x 15/16"-1".
