Ax handled fighter

Since I've been making the smaller axes I really like the looks and feel of the grip and have been wanting to try this shape as a knife handle. This is my first try. Its got a 9" 5160 blade and dyed osage orange handle. The fittings are wrought iron. The little ax has a 4 1/2" head and 8" handle. More cute than an actual tool.

The handle looks like it would be very comfortable. Nice job on the "cute" little ax as well! -Matt-

When did you start making damascus again? Do you have a press or a power hammer now?

The damascus is from Raymond Coon. I've had the chunk for over a year and been waiting for the right idea to come along. The press is still in pieces.
 
Beautiful work yet again. Between the grain and shape of the handle and the damascus head, that axe is amazing. I like the scalloping between the choil and blade and the swivel and the pommel end of the knife.

I worded it wrong about the press being in pieces. I got the press frame and its in pieces. I still need to buy all the other things I need to put it back together. I must not be in a big rush. I'll keep you in mind and thanks for the offer.

It's my pleasure. Just let me know when and I'll be there to "weld, hook up hydraulic systems, turn wrenches, and whatever". Just don't count on me for electrical work. I don't have a clue on that and would mess it up. We want to make sure we don't burn you shop down because of a "bad ickie wiring job". You've already been through a fire, and there is no need to go through another one.
