Thanks for sharing your work J.
you don't think there could be that much difference in axes, but when you use them, you can really tell the difference.

Isn't cedar a soft wood?

What is commonly called "Eastern Red Cedar" is a juniper. Still, it is only about half as hard as oak.

The Fiskars is a great axe too. It is lightweight and bites good. Probably due to the reprofiling and sharpening job I gave it.

What did you do to make it better..? I picked one up last week on "open box" sale, I figured at 50% off it was worth it. I dropped it strait in the pack and have yet to even try it out.

Ski

I knocked back the shoulders on it, and thinned up the edge. The edge of the bit seemed really soft, but after the work its alot better.

^ probably missed my question, but do happen to have the weights on the Wetterling and GB?- just curious how they compare w/ the Fiskars

danke :)

Sorry man, I did miss your question.

The Wett has a 1.5lb head, and the GB has a 1lb head.

any ideas on total weight? just curious if the wood handles weigh much more than the poly handle of the Fiskar/Gerber- I'm guessing the 24 oz you listed for the Fiskar was total weight
