I believe here that Ren is letting his intense dislike for Cliff get in the way of the discussion. I dont agree with everything Cliff says, but here he is correct. Ren, you loudly disagree with Cliff, and then do nothing to refute him? You even prove him point by saying that you like to split wood with a hardware store POS with a three foot handle. Who is talking out his rear now?
Anyway:
If your sole purpose is splitting, get a maul or dedicated splitting axe, like the ones made by GB.
If you are going to be felling and limbing, get an axe designed for that, like a GB Scandinavian Forest axe or an Iltis-Oxhead felling axe.
For collecting firewood out in the bush, you have to compromise. Take a portable saw and a lighter weight, more general purpose axe, like a GB Small Forest Axe. Sure, it wont work as well as a Husqvarna and a maul and some wedges, but it is much light er and more portable.
