Axe info

I think they should make a sticky thread out of this.....Keep it at the top ?

I've had a SAGER double bitted 3.5 pound axe for 20 or so years that was given to me by an old forester. You might want to add that name.

Thanks to JURISPRUDENCE I now know a lot more about Sager than I did an hour ago!! GREAT LINK!!!!

Pritzlaff Hardware of Milwaukee WI sold axes labeled Pritzlaff, Pritzlaff Special, and Everkeen P. H. Co.
I also have two M. Frankfurth Co. axes and two Rixford axes.

Evansville Tool Works in Evansville Indiana produced axes and hatchets for several years. I really haven't much information on this company, but have had several different styles over the years. I live pretty close to Evansville. I have heard they went out of business in the early 40's

do you know anything about my Austria made carpenters axes and Goose Wing Carpenters Axe -in the pic- the Goose Wing came from Austria and is quite old - it is right handed and 12 and a half inch blade - it is for truing up (making one or two sides flat instead of round) of a log so they fit better - i have a 2 that were shipped from the Ukraine. I would like to know more about its date of manufacture and company history if any?

what i found so far i think it is from the 1920s

It is stamped Gusstahl Seebach but hard to read

Thank you
