I'd also be interested in seeing a comparison between your new BMC and a Velvicut HB or a vintage Norlund or Collins HB.

This is a good summation. I got caught up in the 'I must have a GB' but this is a fine looking axe. Will be keeping an eye out for impressions after some use.
