Axe, Tomahawk & Hatchet Photo Thread

Sorry these pics are so huge; will have to get the hang of posting here.

Another day at the wheel:

When I first saw that wheel I thought d**n thats huge! Then I looked closer and went "Ohhh, its the camera position". Beautiful work all around, but, I know my work isn't half as nice looking so I shouldn't nitpick, isn't the double bit handle way too small for the eye size? P.S. How does the manzanita hold up, there's tons of it where I live and I've always wanted to know if it was good handle material. By tons of manzanita I mean TONS of it. A neighbor built a burn pile, no joke, 16' tall and 20' diameter just out of it and it hardly scratched the surface of the literal forests of it around his place.

The double bit on the olive haft isn't the one intended for that handle. It's going to be like what sells today as a "Saddle Axe",sort of a 2 1/2 lb double bit. It is for display only, so may diverge from the norm a little or a lot.

Manzanita is very hard -- much harder than hickory -- and very brittle. It could only make a display axe ... but oh, what a display! It is gorgeous when finished. It's hard to find dead manzanita that is straight enough, dry enough, and long enough for handles around here, although there a million square miles of it.

This carpenter’s hatchet belonged to a retired carpenter, now passed. A privilege to restore. Anyone know what the markings mean?

Have no clue what this or. Inherited from my dad..
