Been working on a CS Spike Tomahawk for the last few days. Should have it done tomorrow afternoon. So far it is looking spectacular.
Where did you get that seax? :O I have been looking for a good one forever. I really want to experience my viking heritage.
I believe that is a Himalayan Imports. Looks like mine.
Are those custom hawks for you or can I find one somewhere?
They are made by Daniel Winkler of Winkler knives. That particular hawk is the Sayoc Winkler hawk, it is available for sale through his web site. .
I don't see any hawks on the site i found. May I have a link?
(nevermind, found the hawks. didn't see that one but based on other prices, no thanks.)
Here's another, less expensive option. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/947448-The-Cassam-Tactical-Hawk!
There is nothing like the Winkler's, some are similar, but none are 3/8" stock, with a tapered tang. That's one reason they are expensive, they have the weight in the head and upper handle, and that equals power. I love mine, but they are not for everyone, nor should they be your first, or only hawk.
Minimal, but all business, looks good. What's the design logic with the spike, and the large cutout, weight reduction? I see how doing so creates the spike, but I was just curious if there was any other reasons. I like it, how well does it chop wood?
E-mail me with a price-point on one of those.View attachment 274277
More than weight reduction, it's space (width) reduction. I wanted to design a narrower head.
The idea behind that spike and its particular inclination is the same as on ony other hawk, plus the ability to use it for prying. Works great
