Bought this as a bandsaw cut blank from Paul Champagne's (RIP) friend Doug. It was labeled as 1045, I forged it out today and punched the eye.

Awesome work Sam! I find forging the beard to be the most frustrating part of forging an axe. how about you?

Jason

Thanks Jason! I find keeping everything in line and centered with the eye troublesome, the way it tapers from the eye, it goes in like 3 different directions because it tapers from the eye to the edge in a straight line, but also from the eye to the nose and eye to the beard.

That looks good, if you do anothern, would you please post pics of the steps, I'de like to try that. Thanks Mark

I would be interested to see some pictures of the progress up to this point or at least a description of your process if possible.

Since it was a presawn out blank, it practically forged itself, but I will do a tutorial now that I have a camera that takes good pictures.
