Choices choices. I'm contemplating my next knife purchase. I've been drooling over some of the framelocks, but I haven't seen much about their strength compared with the strength of the axis locks. If someone wants to donate a framelock too me, I'll gladly test it against my Griptilian!

The only thing that bothers me about the axis lock, is the omega springs breaking. Frame locks don`t have that problem.

Now that you mention that I wonder how much it would take to break it?

I know my Grip gets used alot, and hard. I've heard others have been just downright abused.

For me though, I injoy my axis over a frame.

I like framelocks first,then backlocks,then axis...the less parts,the better IMO.

Naked FWIW where I work we teach the defensive use of edged weapons along with wilderness application of knives...we've tested almost every major brand and locking system. The Axis lock is the ONLY lock that has not failed including back cutting which is very stressful at full speed on locking systems. I'm not saying a frame lock isn't any good or any of the other locking systems but what I am telling from first hand and watching hundreds of thousands of defensive types of slashes and back cuts at full speed is the Axis lock has never failed.

We provide frame lock inert trainer knives for students who don't bring their own. I'd say a good percentage of them are trashed after a couple days of hard work/training. Granted most people would never work any knife as hard as we do under training conditions...but I can tell you anyone who buys a Grip Trainer from us or brings their own has never experienced a failure.

We've seriously considered forgetting the loaner knives and including a Grip trainer as part of the tuition if they don't have one already...hum the more I think about it the better I like this idea!
