Hey Bladeforums, anyone know if there's any other busse kin like the BB13 out there? I love the recurve and swedge of that knife. Interested to know what else is similar. Thanks

What I'm about to suggest is a lot shorter, and probably more usefully thin behind the edge than a stock BB13, but here goes: The first BB13-look-alike-model that comes to my mind is the Busse Trough Raider. It's got a big belly/"sweet spot" and then shrinks to be less wide of a blade as it approaches the ricaso-- overall lines make it look very similar to the BB13 as far as blades go.

FWIW -- BB13 with a well-thought out regrind is probably the best all around Busse for gettin though nature/jungle/etc. My BB13 was super comfy in hand, had long reach, was great cutting, and tough enough to handle anything you throw at it.

AGREED

The Alpha Regulator 9.5 is a larger Busse with the regulator handle. Supper comfy! Not a recurve though more Bowie.

BB13 with Regulator handle sounds like a comfy chopper

Agreed!
And maybe take an inch or two off to balance it out a bit more
While I like the BB13CG, after trying the AR9.5, I realized the BB13CG with a Regulator handle would be much easier to control. The .312" thick blade on the AR9.5 is pretty big, but does not feel like it with the Regulator handle.

R RedWolf4 , The BB13BG is significantly thinner/lighter than the CG model, and might be more what you are looking for.

That BB13 is 1 I still want to add to my stash at some point because I just love a recurve and now that I love Res-C there is no doubt I will have one. Couple comments that stuck me were the TR, oh man, love it and shall never part with it and the Alpha Regulator is also one I will not share, I think it's probably one of the best bowie style choppers you could come up with with an amazing handle you could use all day long. Mine happened to come scary sharp and it's cut me every time I played with it *thanks Garth* and when you put all those in a pile with the Forsaken Mistress, you have all the tools a person could dream of right there.
So for the BB13, short of being lucky enough to acquire a MOABOLO, It sure seems to fill a void for a big recurve chopper.

I didn't know the BG BB13s where thinner/lighter? That is very interesting to me and I might have to go that why when I get one now. Why would Busse make the thicker blade from the more durable steal INFI and the thinner blade from less so sr101?

That's what I've always wondered. Why aren't there more big INFI knives with thinner stock to take advantage of the lateral strength of INFI? Would make for an awesome carrying knife.
