Hi there,

I was just curious to what the legal blade size would be in Arizona. If anyone knows, it would be more than appreciated. :)

The actual law makes no mention of blade length. It prohibits the concealed carry of deadly weapons except "pocket knives" without a permit (for concealed handgun carry). However, other regulations seem to suggest that a "pocket knife" is folding knife with blade length 4" or less. Autos and balisong

This has been discussed in length before.

Where in AZ do you live btw?

I live in Peoria. And I'm talking about an open view assasin knife, about 6 inches. The sheath goes around you leg. Would that be legal?

What do you mean by assassin knife? Are you refering to the Dalton automatic?

The way the law is defined, you can carry a sword if you really want to, so long as it's carried openly.

Opinions differ on whether concealing one is a weapon or not, I've read things on both sides and the law seems vauge, but open carry is certainly legal. I've openly carried an Applegate-Fairbairn in the Phoenix area, including Peoria, with no problems. There are no length or style restrictions in AZ.

Not that I advocate this over a firearm, but I've known people who carried swords. :D

As long as you do no evil you are pretty safe . Open carry goes all the way in AZ. I saw a biker looking guy with a holstered auto pistol with silencer at the grocery store. Perfectly legal if you got the papers for the silencer.
