B.O.B and the big fixed blade?

In a true SHTF scenario, or natural disaster, cops aren't going out on routine patrol and responding to calls.
They will be worried about a city-wide evacuation, manning roads to make sure both directions are now one-way, away from the disaster. Some may be in the urban areas to deter looting. But cops are only human, aren't indestructible beings who are immune to the effects of nature, and they won't be dispatched out to check on an alarm call when a hurricane is blowing. My agency will suspend calls for service when the wind gets too high, even in "only" a tropical storm".

I have a medium sized folder in my bob. For bugging from A-B, suburban terrain, even in hostile conditions, the more I look like a displaced person the better. The more likely scenario for me to bug out is natural disaster related. To look like a looter is to be treated as a looter. There are three homes I would have to check on my way out, All within a three mile range of each other. On foot, the next checkpoint is about two days away, then about a week and a half walk after that. That is assuming no phone.

I have a fixed blade in the van, my thinking is, that if the SHTF actually happens, rules are out the window. I am a good person, but I am getting to my girls, and come hell or high water...I am getting to my girls.
I would just strap it on, and avoid folks in general. I wouldn't care what other are thinking unless its about eating me or something...and then its simply and issue of where to wash my hands and such...:)
Seriously,
I would want a gun though.

after getting from point A to point B, and having used my bug out bag to help with my survival, I would be more inclined to strap on my 22 inch Viking langsax, and dare any remaining authorities to say anything.

Carrying a concealed weapon? Or "is that a smatchet in your pocket or are you just glad to see me"?

Everyone will be more worried about the rifle that I'm carrying than the knife. :D

Seriously though, concealed handgun on my person, big knife can go in the bag..... Some knife of some sort in my pocket.
