Anyone ask the shop recently about our Bolo13? And if so, what was their response? I'm reaching here.. Even the tiniest breadcrumb would mean everything.

I need me some B13

Yesterday I mentioned this thread to Jerry, asking him to post in it. He said (paraphrasing here) "Those guys are crazy!" "You want another big chopper?" and then went on to say that it would be expensive in INFI, due to ineffecient material utilization (my words, not his). When I suggested doing it in SR101, he didn't really argue, but then when I mentioned Bolo, "You want it Bolo, too?!?!" And skinny, I said, gotta be skinny. Apparently recurves add to manufacuring costs. But then he said, maybe a slight recurve, and closed by saying something like, "Well, just keep watching."

So my take was that it's not likely to happen in INFI, as it would have to be at a higher price point, but that there is something good coming nonetheless.

Great info! Thanks!

It's good to hear Jerry comment on all of this.

I'd be curious as to the details of this: "it would be expensive in INFI, due to ineffecient material utilization (my words, not his)"

Did Jerry say something specific to indicate it was a utilization issue or could it be as simple as a "big hunk of INFI" and the cost associated with that?

If it is in regards to material utilization, I would be curious to know what specifically is causing the inefficient utilization. If not the overall length of our proposed design (13.20" of cutting edge + talon hole + tang) layed up against his INFI sheet size, then what? If that is the case, I would be up for increasing the length of the blade as opposed to it being trimmed off, scrapped, and we basically pay for it anyhow.

I'd be curious to know what the additional cost for the BOLO feature would be over a straight edge.

I'd REALLY prefer to keep it in INFI. For me, that's part of what makes this an absolute MUST HAVE blade. I'm a big fan of SR101, but with the chopper of all choppers, it has to be INFI in my opinion.

Your post and conversation with Jerry has renewed my confidence that something will come to fruition as a result of everyone's dedication and persistence.

Maybe Jerry's "keep watching" message means he's planning to give us the Res C handle version of the Tactical / Nuclear Butter Knife that I believe dericdesmond has. 12.75" cutting edge, .20" thick, with our Bolo feature.

To quote dericdesmond, "if the BK had a res-c handle, holy smokin bacon would I die and go to heaven." So sounds like we're on the right track for the perfect chopper! The bad news is, that apparently the BK cost ~$1200 from Busse which is probably what Jerry meant regarding the higher cost.

Well, I for one would be more than happy to pay a little more for it to be in thin INFI. If it costs too much to make it bolo, then just make it straight like an INFI 1311 and I will take care of the rest. I really need a 13+ inch thinfi chopper with res-c. It's not just another big chopper, it's the big chopper for infi users. ;)

I agree. A satin anorexic BASIC 13 shaped like the 1311 would be excellent.

I would like it with a Regulator handle and a SH-shaped tip. I'd buy any length of that from 7 to 17.
