After sellin' and swappin' a bunch of gear around, I decided to ummm celebrate by gettin' a new flashlight. I've gotten tired of some of the micro LED lights like the Photons, so I thought I would get another Fenix. I have a P1 and it works great, but it does on CR123's which can be spendy and it is short but fat. I cooked up a PSK in a Nite Ize pock-it and I wanted something slimmer-- a little taller was okay. So I got on the Fenix-Store web site and found an EO for $20. It runs on one AAA battery and has a simple twist-on switch.

It showed up today and I was blown away by the small size and light weight. It's *perfect.* Seeing that a Photon can run $16, this is a no-brainer for me. And it takes a screwdriver and an act of Congress to change the battery on the Photon too. I can swap one out on the Fenix in the dark, without tools.

Wow-- I need to get Normark to make a holder for my F1 sheath-- firesteel in one, the light in the other {{{{{{{{shudder}}}}}}}}

Here's a shot with it on my PSK lanyard. Note the Scout-sized firesteel next to it:

I have a fenix p2d cree and I love it. Bright as hell and the battery life is amazing.

The EO is a great light...one of the best survival lights when used with a lithium battery. It will even light up with dead batteries. Check out the LOD CE also...it's my edc light. Very bright for a single AAA light and good runtime on low. It also has strobe and SOS modes which I think are great to have in a survival situation. I power it with eneloops.

Cool set-up!

Fenix lights are great value for money.....

I have the E1 in my PSK and use the L2D Rebel practically every day.

The small AAA ones are great PSK lights though - amazing output for their size.

to bad that light is discontinued, it was a good light.

At least the Arc is still around, little more durable, brighter than the fenix and made in the USA!!!!!

Don't forget the Peak lights. My Peak Matterhorn is indestructable and always with me on my keychain.

Dale, where did you get the scout firesteel with the slim round handle? I would like to put together a lanyard like that, but the handles on the light my fire firesteels are really bulky. I could mod one, but I wouldn't mind just buying a couple like that one.

County Comm had them a while back, but they have since replaced them with the LMF Scout model. You might be able to contact them and have them dig some up.

Exactly right, storl, and I do like them better for a small PSK. County Comm still has the photo of that one on their site. There is a mini Lite My Fire version out that comes close, but it does have a smaller diameter rod. It's been a round-to-it project of mine to find some plastic or metal tubing that can be epoxied to one of the bulk rods from eBay and cross-drilled for a lanyard. You might be able to disembowel a spring toggle and use the barrel to do the same.

The mailman showed up with a Boy Scout firesteel today. I took a shot of several firesteels-. The perspective is a little skewed, but there is a big difference in size.
