WOW Mack! That is awesome! Thanks for those cool pix:thumbup:
Mine buzz by my head when I change their feeders...

Cool pictures, Mack!!

That is cool.

I do know that they know that I am the guy that feeds them - they sit out there and chirp while I am cleaning and refilling the feeders -

It looks like you get a different breed of hummingbird than we see here in Illinois.

I can't remember which ones they are. I'll check with Karen.
You're right. They know. When wife would go outside they ignored her but would come buzzing down out of the trees when I came out with fresh feeders.

We have several different breeds up here in the mountains. We're evidently in their migration path as they come and go at different times of the year.

Once Karen realized that they knew she was the one that feeds them, they were waiting at the window looking in when she opened the blinds in the morning and she could tell they were waiting for her, I showed her a video of folks in Alaska feeding them by hand. She tried it and they didn't hesitate.

If you put it in a small red container like the top of one of Karen's shaker bottles they will eat right out of your hand.

I will try that Mack! Mine do know that I am the one who refreshes there feeders. About 5 years ago when we first moved in, a female kept hovering and checking out my deck( screened) . I got a feeder and put food out right away, we had just moved into the house. I always wondered why she did that, but perhaps our deck looked like another house she had fed at. They show up every year within a week or two, around April 15, and likewise they are gone by the second week in October. During their visit they are constantly around, and I have found their nests in the Crepe Mirtle trees when I prune them.

They will come to the feeder even with me standing on the other side of the screen just three feet away.

Thanks for these pics and postings ............. we had one get trapped in our skylight well on our patio and I had to get a ladder to get him out.

Great Oriole pics Andy, love the colors on them guys.

Here's a Gray Jay,also known as Camp Robbers, very bold birds.
I've had 'em take crackers out of my mouth as I held 'em in my teeth.
They'd land on my chin & grab the cracker real fast & boogie.

Great pics. I'll have to try that trick with the crackers. I see a lot of Gray Jays and Steller's Jays.
