Back after hip surgery

I'm going slow and steady Uncle Bill. I am doing everything the doctor and therapist said to do. Cliff, I could tell the day after the surgery that the pain I had been living with was gone. The remaining discomfort (surgery induced) has been getting better everyday. Josh, when I was coming out of the anesthesia, I thought I saw a nurse that looked like your avatar. :D

Yvsa, when the doctor briefed me on this implant, he made it a point to discuss the temperature aspect. I can't soak in very hot water, like a hot tub, because I could end up cooking my rear end like a Virginia Ham. Same type of scenario for the cold.

Good to hear the surgery went well. Everyone I know who has had a joint replacement claims they are better than new after all the recovery/therapy is over with.

That's my grandfather's experience with modern artificial hip and knee joints, as well:
He took a German bullet through the upper femur a little after Remagen in WWII (which started the whole degenerative cascade), and he's still walking around pretty well these days. :)

Um, you did get the surgery performed on Earth, right? I hope the nurse wasn't holding any suspicious probe-like instruments:eek:;)

Glad it went well, Ben. Welcome back. At the gym that I go to, there is an infernal machine like a truncated escalator, about 3 steps worth. In my opinion, it gives the the most difficult cardio workout, much harder than the elliptical trainers or stairsteppers.

Hope the recovery is quick. And if you're going to see weird avatars, Kismet's 'Dancing Sandwiches' is preferable.

Thanks, Golok. I appreciate it. Donuts...amazing about your Grandfather. That was one tough generation.

Josh, I'm sure it was the medication; at least that's what I'm going to tell myself.

Aardvark, I had a reaction to the medication right after surgery and just the thought of food made me ill. Seeing dancing sandwiches would have made for an interesting moment.

Warren, thankfully no...I escaped the irony. At least not that I know of. I was so out of it the first couple of days I couldn't really tell you who was there and who wasn't. But, I can tell you this; they had a great kitchen. It wasn't like hospital food I've had in the past.
