As some of you may recall, my oldest son returned from Afghanistan last year. He had taken my BATAC with him, and it took until just a few days ago for it to get back. Maybe I should have it sent to the shop to clean up and get something etched on it for him. I love this blade and it is the favorite of what I own. It should serve him forever more.

Those are beauty marks and we'll earned I'd leave it as is. Glad your son is back safe. Thanks for your service young man!

Wooo Hooo!

Beat the drums to a warriors song!

A hero has returned!

So happy for you on so many fronts brother:thumbup:

Don't clean the blade and make it pretty, he might stop using it.

Glad to hear he's back.

I too am in the camp of don't mess with the love bites that blade is now wearing, to him (well if it were me) each one tells a tales and the wear on the blade may well mirror some of the wear on the man, it will remain a good reminder of times past, good and bad.

Dittos on thanking your son for his service and leave that blade ALONE!
Its been there and has the scars to prove it!

Thank the man for his service and shake his hand for me.
I'd leave the scars on the blade as memories, unless he asks how to clean them up himself.

:thumbup:You must be very proud of your son. Please thank him for his service. The BATAC looks great the way it is.

Yes, please thank your son for his service!!!!!!
And, I whole hardheartedly agree, a Badger with scars is freakin' cool!!!!!!! Sharpen her and send her back to work!!!! :D

I agree with the others who have said to leave the wear and tear on the blade or leave the decision to your son. Thank him for his service and thank you for raising such a brave young man.

...ditto.....

Thanks everybody! I will pass all along. I think you are right in leaving it alone. He just had told me that he wanted some etching to commemorate his service. I did design a shirt for his unit. Maybe I can try to find another BATAC and do something with it.
Posing for the old man.

Man thats awesome. Glad that he made it back. I wouldnt do a thing to that knife. It should wear its scars proudly.

Garth

I don´t know, might be possible to find someone who could do some laser engraving in the ricasso area?

Thank your son for me for his service, and thank you for raising a good man!

Like the others have said, I'd leave the beauty marks, it looks well loved.

Keep the knife as is and put it away as a memento to his courageous service. Replace with something new for a new beginning. :)
