Hey Guys,
Well, as the title says, I am back from a trip to the 2008 Blade Show Atlanta. I thought I would share a bit with you guys that didnt get to go about all the cool RAT goodies I got to put my paws on while there.
First off, Jeff & Mike were cool enough to hook me up with a VIP pass so I got to go on the exhibition floor 2 hours before the general public admission started. At a show as large as Blade, that 2 hours makes a BIG difference.
The RAT CUTLERY booth looks good! in person the booth and displays look much better than the majority of the others ya see. I got to meet Jeff & Mike who are just as cool in person, But an added bonus was that Shawn Rowen was also there which was great! Super nice guy. And yep, Tara is HOT:thumbup: Had my wife with me so I had to act like I was paying sole attention to the blades though..
NOW, on to the knives!
First, the RC-6. Ill start by saying that the pictures we have all seen of the RC-6 are good, but they do not begin to do this thing justice. The knife is honestly beautiful from the curves to the handles and the finish, it is just a beautiful knife.
Also, the pictures are a bit misleading. We all know that a 6inch bladed knife is a good sized knife, But when the RC-6 is in your hand its just.."WOW, that's alotta damn knife" it really is a beast of a 6 incher, but it is also one of the most well balanced and ergonomic 6 incher I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. I promise that NO ONE will be dissapointed when ya get it.
Second, I got to molest the RC-5 SERE If I had to sum up the RC-5 SERE in one word it would be "SOLID". The first thing that comes to mind when you pick it up is that you know you could beat the ever loving Sh&$ out of this thing and it would ask for more, it is just SOLID! The finish is the same we have come to expect in terms of quality and the logo looks great on it! Besides "solid" the next word would be "MEAN".. Its a Solid Mean looking blade! Well thought out and designed, and if you were trapped behind lines and forced into an E&E situation I would bet my life on it with no second thought!
Third, the IZULA. It is what it is, A no nonsense do it all little utility blade that as a bonus looks great! Its handle is perfect for the hand and the hole at the end is a great place for the pinky finger giving you awesome detail work control.
Now Finally..(drumroll).. I wasn't expecting to see this one at all, matter of fact I knew nothing about it. But, by being displayed at the Blade Show I think I wont be pissing anyone off by talking about it.
The RAT TAK knife! I knew it had been mentioned that RAT was gonna produce it, but there it was, the TAK Prototype! This is one awesome knife! I would classify it more on the lines of a typical Bushcraft knife than the others, With a similiar blade to the RC-4 but a thicker handle and a more "meaty" feel to it.
This one could easily replace my current blade as my favorite "bushcraft" blade! I can't wait for them to start shipping!
All-in-All, it was great to go and to meet everyone in person, and I tell you all that the wait is MORE than worth it for the new products RAT is putting out guys. I fell in love with'em all and already have a place in the house for each one of'em!
P.S.. Now, this is TOP SECRET, but Ill share. I did hear whisper of a new super knife in the design works. I didnt get to much detail except for the possibiility of the blade being flashed with a LOGO picture of Mike Perrin in a Bikini. I hear the picture exsist and will keep close watch out for this one, I'd be sure for everyone to ask him personally about it!!!
