BACK FROM BLADE SHOW: (my RAT report)

Aww damn. Now I have to wait to see the TAK to see if I want to get it or the RC-4.

From your observations, if one got a TAK/RC-4, would there still be a use for the RC-6?

Hey Cpl,

Man thats a tough question actually. I think thats all gonna fall into preferences really. Like me, I like bigger blades and do most everything with them most do with the smaller 3 or 4 inchers, So yes I would still go for the RC-6. But, if the question is if you owned a TAK would it be fine as your only field knife without the RC-6? Absolutely! The TAK's Size, heft and agility I think is bout a perfect blend between the RC-4 and RC-6.

I found the RC-4 handle a bit small. I think I like the TAK better, but until this dispute between Jeff and Ontario is settled, I am refraining from any Ontario purchases.

My wife and I are also just back from the show. The RAT crew was great and it was also great to get to handle all the knives. I loved the Izula. Even though designed as a "survival" neck knife, it would be a great EDC. My wife even got kidded about her bright finger nail polish and Jeff "suggested" it to her as a possible knife color. Mike said it could be their "Hollywood" model. Great people!

Horn Dog,

The TAK we are talking about is the new model that Jeff & Mike are producing with Rowen that was on display at the blade show. Not the old Ontario model.

I enjoyed checking out the new knives also.

Thanks Beroya for your report. Now that I have held one I'm considering a RC-4 but for now my RC 3 and Me will keep on working.

I don't think there are any pics of the TAK. If anyone knows it would be TexasTonyDobbs - I think he has a direct line to the Shop! :D

Good meeting all of you at Blade. Between Mike's son, Gordon and Tara working the booth it freed Mike and I up to be able to meet a lot of folks we don't normally get to spend time with. We had a lot of fun, gave away several knives at our drawing on Saturday and met some good folks!
