Back from my trip

Awesome fish Buddy. I'd trade every trout I caught for one largemouth like that!

Well I threw her back so I can tell you which dock she's hanging around:D

Oh yea, I had my Vantage Avid in my pocket just in case anyone was wondering!

No, they are from Pinecrest Lake. We made a run up to Alpine Lake last Saturday, but it was still nearly solid ice. We fished an hour or so around the shore where the ice was gone, but had no luck. My Brother and Cousin did go to New Melones Sunday, but it was too hot for them so they came on back.

Thanks for the field reports on the Bucklite and Ergo, two more on my list!

Everyone that tried them were impressed. My cousin put away his regular fish cleaning knife as soon as he tried the Bucklite I gave him. I'm pretty sure I'll have a tough time getting the Ergo back from my brother too!

 Daves knife critiques are pretty darn good! I picked those models up already on his recommendation and they are fantastic!

How well did they hold an edge with the new sandvik 12C,,,,? The trout probably didnt even dull them huh! ;)

Thanks Dave!

Oh and a little mess of bream on the skinning table. Caught 5/30/10
Cut their head off with that Vantage Avid. I must say I'm really liking Sandvik steel and the Vantage blade profile.

Bream???? All I see is a nice catch of Bluegills!!! :D (J/K)

I am liking the sandvik and especially my Vantages also, just havent used that one enough yet to really test the blade! :o

Didn't have a scale but one of the coolers had one of those rulers in the top. The bass was just over 23 inches. Typical weights for that length are 7-8 pounds. Our guess at the time was about 7lbs.

Hey Flat -- that is a beauty for a large mouth!! Must have put up a nice fight. Used to catch the small mouth bass on lakes in Maine... good times.

Woody, I know a little stretch of the Androscoggin River just loaded with smallies. :)
Dad had so much fun with them last summer he's flying back in this summer to do it again.

Actually the big ole green trout (for postfallsidaho ;)) was pretty close to the bank and I was quick about getting her caught in all my excitment. It was over quite fast but exciting none the less. Btw, my grandfather called bass green trout all his life. He called bluegills bream as well.

"Green trout" -- too funny! I know where the Androscoggin is, some nice rainbows further north.... Short story, years ago when I was still in school, a buddy of mine over near Moscow ME was heading home from a bar, after closing time. Stops by this tiny little pond, decides to try his luck at fishing, throws his line in the water, BANG, snags a huge large mouth bass. Since he doesn't have his license, he ties the fish up to shore, wakes up the next morning, gets his fishing license, goes back and gets the fish.

Coincidentily there is a fishing competition THAT DAY for the largest smally and large mouth caught and registered. He proudly takes his fish in, registers it, turns out that he caught the record large mouth that day, I still have the newspaper article. How funny is that ;-)

Yes the Andro from Rumford Dam down to Riley Dam (Jay) is a quality fishery. The upper part of the stretch of river is very good for both Brown and Rainbows. The lower two thirds has a lot of smallie activity. Its a good day float in a Rangley boat.

One thing I do love about Maine is all the water everywhere. It really is a fisherman's paradise!!!

over near Moscow ME ;-)

Moscow is the capital of my country. :)
Is Moscow ME the sister city of our Russian capital?

Thanks to Mr. Plumberdv for nice pictures and story.
Thanks for the fisher stories to Mr. Gordon and to Mr. mainewoodsman.
