Back From The Blade Show

Thats just wrong on so many levels.........yet intersting on a few.

Ain't that the dang truth, though I don't think I care to explore it any further!!! :p

How 'bout them Bose knives!?!? (That oughta work for a while. ;) )

Blues,

I'm with you futher exploration may reveal a completely new life form.

How bout them Boses, great bunch.

Kerry, Randy, Blues, James, Gus, anyone else I've forgotten... I truly enjoyed meeting and hanging out with you. Look forward to doing it again next year. I'm overdue for a win.

James, looked high and low for you with no success. No wonder the cops couldn't find you.

Right back at ya oh Fast One!! I was settin on the side crying about not getting a lotto pic when Eddie came up and said it was his 5th drawing and he has yet to get called..I hope we both have better luck next year..

This being my first Blade, I have to ask..Are they all this fun??!! Or was it just first time bliss?

R

Randy, if you were crying about not getting a lotto pic after your haul, I'm gonna stick a boot up your nether regions! (And I think Eddie will join me!) ;)

They're all that much fun, Randy. Because when you go back you'll be seeing "old" friends.

(Eddie, great meeting you too bud.)

Group hug guys!:D I miss everybody already. That's probably girly but I don't care.

Better get a waiver, Kerry. You doily lovin' girly man! LOL!!!!

Doilys might be girly but they are definitely folksy.:p

The real prize (knifewise) for me was winning the opportunity to purchase a beautiful knife by Reese Bose. (This after having pulled Gus' name out of the hat at the Chamblin table and watching Joe (canineforge) pull the lucky rabbit out of the hat at both Chamblin and Richard Rogers' tables. (I'll let him tell the story when he gets back online. He and his wife were a real pleasure to meet and spend time with at the show.)

Anyway, I'm gonna cut it short here as I'm a bit toasted but we'll fill in the gaps as we go forward from here.

Better late than never, but I have been on a dead run since returning home from Blade. I wanted to tell my remarkable start in the folder lottery world. Our good friend, Elliott, took me under wing Friday and we went to Joel's table first, checked out the situation and put our names in the pot. Then over to Richard's and did the same there. We had met placing our names on the Bose table for twenty-four chances there (one card per knife, 12 by Tony, 12 by Reese) previously. I ask Blues where the other lottery tables were and the rest is history.

Joel's drawing was at 2:00, 5 knives and your name in the pot only once. I was drawn first and was caught so off-guard, realized I had not done my homework and had to make a quick decision. The 5-blade sowbelly was tempting, but I had not even picked it up to look at it previously. Being impressed with the finish, look and thinness of Joel's jigged bone two-bladed toe nail, I went with it and really like my choice. Superior fit and finish. Nice, nice knife.

Then, over to Richard's table where 9 great folders were waiting to vanish in thin air at 2:30. I believe 6 of Richard's selection were MOP. I was shocked to get drawn with three of his knives still on the table. I chose this great swayback over the pearl gunstock, which I also liked.

Of course, Elliott was happy for me, but was wondering if his name would be drawn? Well, I knew my luck had run thin, and even with my wife's name under each one of Tony & Reese's folders, I felt my number was up. But, I really wanted Elliott to score a Bose, and finally, after 21 drawings on their table beginning at 3:00, Blues' red-inked name came up for that great Reese whittler. Way to go, Elliott!

As a side-note, until my picture taking improves, I am reminded of the beautiful lady one often sees with some loser-looking guy. I feel the same way about these beautiful folders and my photography skills. Maybe someday!?

It was a great show. Thanks again Elliott, for showing me the ropes. I am shooting for three-out-of-three at next year's lotteries. ;)

- Joe

Joe, it was a pleasure meeting and spending time with you and your wife. It was great to see you and the other forum members do so well at the show. Those are the memories that we'll take with us and hope to build upon in future years to come.

It's really great when the forumites do well. Then they can periodically post pics for the rest of us to drool over. On another note, I kind of have to laugh when I think of some of the things said in the "traditional vs tactical" threads.

How many of the makers of traditional knives have to sell them in drawings?

How many of the other makers?

How many of the traditional makers go home with any knives left?

While there may be more people interested in the modern designs, us "folksy" guys know what we want and go for it.:D

Joe off guard or not you made a heck of a choice I love that Toe Nail is wonderful..and that Rogers is tasteful and elegant..

Joe,

Ya done great!

Randy, trust me on this, after 15 or 16 years each Blade show is better than the last ;).
