Well I had a nice relaxing time. We pretty much stayed on my wife's family's property the whole time. They have a house there on about a hundred acres. Monday I woke up at 6am and took a walk up one of the trails and found a couple of down trees blocking the trail. I went back to the house and figured it would make for some great work foe the BRKT Glenn Eagle's I had to review for a passaround.

I decided to first take all the limbs of the tree. The Glen eagles weren't bad at that, but I had a better tool with me for that.
I don't know if you guys remember my David Farmer Golok. Bear The Dog did a right up on it and some other large Farmer Knive's in the recent Tactical Knives magazine. Oh well, here is an old pic of here.

I always loved this knife, but the handles were a lil thin and square for my taste. So I recently sent the knife to DJJ for some new handles. It performs outstanding now. Extremely comfortable and it didn't hurt at all while chopping with it. DJJ did a great job. His fit and finish is about perfect and he has a real sense for what works! Thanks Dennis, great job bro!

First the smaller tree

Well that didn't take long..

Now it was time to see what the Glen Eagles could do!

There are two. The green micarta is on the right and has handles by Twin Eagle. He also gave it a hollow grind with convex edge. The other is by BRKT, and sports their usuall convex grind.

More coming....

Both were comfortable, but I prefer the fatter handle on the Green Micarta. It felt more secure and had less shock.

It didn't take long to get through the tree. The hollow convex bit deep, but occassionaly would stick.

The full convex model also bit deep and didn't stick. I prffered it for chopping. Allthough the thinner handle was not as comfy or secure as I mentioned.

Then for some splitting

The hollow convex grind did well, but again stuck occassionaly, and needed another wack to get through.

The full convex pushed the wood apart fantasticly. I really enjoyed what these lil guys could do!

When it came to carving they both did well, but the thinner hollow convex grind outshined the other in that category!

I would probably opt for the full convex grind with the fatter handle if I had my way. So a combo of both would be great IMO. Here's some more pics.

Look at how clean the Golok gous through these 1 1/2" branches! Damn, I love this thing...

Stay tuned for more....

Gotta be safe when your daughter is behind you taking notes...

Trail all clear.

Heading back to the house

On the other side of the house there is a lil pond.

Just off to the side of it I found this... yikes!

I had a bunch of knives to play with. 1st a DP. Just pics for now, I'll post the review tomorrow in the passaround thread.

Also a Breeden.

A Fiddle Back Hunter

and I used the hell out of my new Off The Map Custom that I designed and Brian Andrews made. I compared it to his Bushcract which has been my favorite user knife for some time now.

Hang tight, almost done...

Here's the two together.

I am too tired to accurately give details on all these knives now, but I will post some other threads on the knives tomorrow. I have a bunch more pics of each knife working, so I will try to make it entertaining for yall.

For now here's a group shot.

Try to keep your comments polite or you have to deal with my bodyguard:eek:

Thanks for looking:thumbup:

Great Review!!!!!

Very very cool! Looks like a good time. I may have to get some info from you about those hatchets. Thanks for sharing!!

Looks like a great place to spend some time with the family.

Your daughter is a cutie

Awesome pics Tony, Looks like a lot of fun all at one time! Should have planted that scat so the seeds would grow.

Looks like a good time, Tony:thumbup: Did you pit the axes against the golok in straight chopping?

Ofcourse I did:D

The axes out chopped the Golok. Not by much though. The Golok was far from a slouch, it just stuck a lil more. I prefer the golok if I were to have one tool though. It gives you more reach and is better at lighter work. When it came to splitting the axes blew the golok away though....

Great Pics Tony, I will be on my best behavoir from now on. Your body guard looks as tough as they come;):D

Very cool blades too.

Bryan

Thanks for the compliments fellas:thumbup:

Great Review!!!!!

If me and the family are ever in Texas I'll let your wife borrow her. The wife and I could use some alone time:D

Storm staff, I'll be happy to give you any info you want bro:thumbup:

Pure excellence Tony.

Thanks again for lending me the Farmer and now with those handles I bet you can chop all day.

I think your knife design that Brian Andrews made looks like the perfect handle. Nice and round in all the right places and with those tapered scales towards the blade for your thumb in those side grips. Great job on the thread.

Looks like that Bear crapped an SAK!

Awesome pics, Tony! And your daughter is cute, and it seems she enjoys that hatchet a little, huh? :D

Thanks Bear. It feels about perfect to me. Again I'll have a review up tomorrow on it, but yeah. I kind of wanted the handle to be comfortable in any grip. The tapers are perfect, Brian did a great job. The contours aren't to abrupt and allows the knife to be used for long periods with out any fatigue or hotspots.

Nice pics Tony! Glad the DP made it to you ok, I hope it was in good shape from the last Italian to use it...
That golok is so freakin' awesome! Dennis did a great job on an already great knife. And the knife you designed---I want one.
