Hello all,

I had a great time at the show today! I finally got to meet a whole bunch of BFC members and I was not disappointed in their personalities. It is great to be able to put a face to the name. To everyone I met at the show,(you know who you are) It was a real pleasure to meet you all! I had a great time hangin out in the lobby and BS-ing. I had to leave in a hurry and was not able to say goodbye to quite a few of you guys.

My first stop was at the American Tomahawk Company table. MAN!! The new ‘hawks are incredible! I was really impressed. You have to feel these ‘hawks to understand what they are all about. Got to see Andy Prisco again, always a pleasure! For those that have not met andy you are really missing out. He is a great guy. I could not leave without ordering my Next Generation Ranger Spike hawk. Andy had a TON of people with him, all of which were extremely friendly and a real pleasure to meet!

Below you can see the pics I was able to take. The quality is not that good though. The lighting in that place was terrible. The Busse custom knives were INCREDIBLE! GOOD JOB Jerry! And the gentleman behind the table(can’t remember his name) was a real pleasure to talk to and made the table one of my favorite stops. One thing I really need to talk about is an incredible man nemed Theuns Prinsloo. Theuns is quite possibly the nicest person I have ever met in my entire life. After talking to him you walk away feeling happy knowing that people like him exist. Not only is his personality second to none but his knives are gorgeous!! His work is great and his prices are ridiculously cheap. I don’t think there was a fixed blade at his table that was over $150.00, and when you see what you get for that price, it is unfair to Theuns. If you want an incredibly well made knife from a wonderful man, I urge you to check out his work. You won’t be sorry.

I also got to meet Les Robertson from Robertson Custom Cutlery and it certainly was a pleasure also. He was real easy to talk to and very friendly. Another group of friendly dealers were the guys at BladeArt. Their table was one of my last stops and my best stop. That is where I picked up my Wally Hayes TAC-1, FINALLY!

Well, I have rambled on long enough. I am sure I am leaving out some great people and for that I am sorry. Thanks to EVERYONE for making the show what it is. I hope to see you all again real soon.

Thanks Louis!!!

You must have been the only guy there with a digital Camera... or the only one still standing after the show....

Thanks for the "view"...

Michael

AWESOME LOUIS!!!

I'm happy to hear that you picked up a Hayes Tac 1 too. Of course, we want a review of that one.

Thanks for the pics. it allows us who are stuck at home to be there a bit too.

It was good to meet you Louis. I didn't get a chance to say goodbye before we were "kicked" out of the lobby.:D The show was a blast even though I was there for only a few hours. I got to pick up a TTKK in BG-42 and carbon fiber and a Murray Carter Muteki camp knife from Larry at Bladeart. Larry really went out of his way to make me happy and it was a pleasure to meet him. I spent a lot of time over at the Strider table with Duane and Josh(from TAD). I was also impressed with Theuns Prinsloo's table. He had some great looking hunters that were undervalued. Emerson had lots of customs in the raffle, and I know that a few foumites got lucky. Overall it was a good show and I had a great time. BTW Louis if you ever want to let that Hossom go please eamil me. ;)

Frank,

Yeah getting kicked out of the lobby did kind of SUCK! :)
I missed saying goodbye to almost all of you guys. My bro was feeling sick so we left in a hurry. If I ever sell my Hossom, I'll let you know first. Don't hold your breath though, I don't plan on ever selling it:) P.S. Don't get caught with that strider folder, it is illegal ;) :p

Stan,
I don't know ANYTHING about the Scott Cook knife other than the fact that it was gorgeous! Sorry. Actually, if not for the card in the pic, I would not have even remembered who made it.

Man, I had such a good time yesterday I can't wait for the March show. Will you all be there???

Stumpy, I spoke with Scott Cook at the show yesterday and he described his daggers as "one-offs" which sounded to me like they are not part of his normal line. I think he had 2 or 3 of them at his table.

I picked up one of his small owyhee hunters in ironwood it is absolutely incredible.

His email is: scott@scottcookknives.com

Thanks for the pictures. Great job. Too bad some of them turned out a little to dark to make out the knives. It is also to bad that you don't know the name of the maker of that second last knife. As you posted, it is a beautiful one. If anyone knows the maker of this knife please let us know.

Louis, it was nice to meet you and your brother ya ugly bastid :D I had a great time hanging out with all you guys. It's funny cause I talked to someone in BF chat last night who was saying he didn't like the show and there were no BF members there. I guess he wasn't paying attention because I saw and talked to: Louis,fq55,nakano2,jackstraw,ArkhamDrifter,jbravo,Trader1,SkyMasterson,Ebbtide,AncientSul,Lev,PhilL,DonnaBarnas,NowhereFast,Wulf,BrianCaffrey,Rugger,Coop,JohnG,TallPaul,Remster,EsavBenyamin,Yitz,Recoil,and a few more. If I left your name out, I apologize, it's not intentional, just old age.
Oh yeah, I got an Emerson Viper 1 and an ironwood handled JW Smith folder. Life is good. :D

Dave

Great pictures! The next best thing to being there in person. Does anybody else have some pictures?

Yes, it was real nice to put the faces with the names :)
Louis, I though I was next in line for that Hossom ;)
After you left, I went back in and got a Dozier No. 6 with ivory micarta.
I thought getting kicked outta the lobby was kinda funny. Didn't hotel guy seem just a little bit nervous? ;) :D

Great blades, Great Guys!:D

Great Show, saw alot of new toys (oops! I mean tools)
to put on my Christmas list. A few tables were empty but overall I thought this years show was better than last years.

After meeting you guy's face to face, I don't blame security one bit for being a bit worried!

Only kidding, had a great time.

It was good to meet everybody. Louis, thanks for the pix. I just posted the Spyderco proto pix over in their forum.

I though it was a great show! I picked up a Murray Carter Wharncliffe NK as well as a really sweet Keith Bagley Bowie with 8 1/4" 5160 blade, copper guard & butt plate, stippled detailing, 100 year old Honduran Rosewood handle, weighting all of about 9 1/2 ounces. :D It's gorgeous & just about the fastest big Bowie I've ever handled. I went back a little later & got a companion piece from Keith too -- a small hawk w/weeping heart cut-out in blade, fantastic nicely contoured cherry wood haft with silver inlays. I'll post pix of all the new goodies by tomorrow.

Ebbtide, I know you'll love that Model 6. Sandbars & Doziers -- just proves great minds think alike. ;)

Brian, you have excellent taste. I had my eye on that bowie and neck knife myself. That bowie had a great copper guard and was very light. I was impressed with Keith Bagley's table. He had some great deals. I know that you'll love that Carter NK. The 7" camp knife that got is the sharpest knife that I have owned up to this point.

Ebbtide, that Bruce Evans bowie that you brought was a real beauty. I am glad that I got to see one of his pieces.
