• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Heat the end of the straw with a lighter, wait a half a second; pinch and hold with fingers (you better not have soft hands)!

Softer then a Baby's bottom:p I would use pliers. Never considered fire straws before. I use a big empty medication container stuff full of Cotton interwoven with fine steel wool and wet with petroleum jelly.

Great shots of the gear QB! I love that Maxpedition 10x4 pouch...excellent selection!

While the pics and vid were good, I am sure they can't compare to being there in person. IMHO, there are precious few things in this world that can compare to the beauty and splendor of Mother Nature. Thanks for the glimpse into your trip.

Another way to seal the straw is to squeeze the end shut with needlenose pliers with about 1/16" sticking out. Use the flame from a candle, lighter, match, etc. to seal the end.
