The stock I was waiting for weeks has come, 1 meter X 1 meter 3.5mm D2 :D. I was a knife maker without steel stock... Tomorrow I'll start full throttle

Thanks guys, I'm really excited to start...
Are you going to have the steel cut or are you cutting in the shop?

As it is relatively cheap steel I don't mind the stock consumption of cutting... I have an old angle grinder thats what I use for cutting and profiling. I know I need a band saw but no extra cash left...

Hi, I was wondering because I didn't think you could fit that sheet on most metal cutting bandsaws! I still use an angle grinder here at the house, metal saw at my teacher's shop.

That's fantastic Emre! Can't wait to see what you do when you're making knives again. Yeah, that is one big honkin piece of steel! :D Is it thick enough you won't forge to shape or is that still going to be your process too? Just curious.

No way Dave, I won't forge any high-alloys again :grumpy:, I ruined almost twice amount of steel that I've managed to make them into knives. It is thick enough to make most of my knives. Maybe I won't be able to make a big chopper out of it but it is thin enough to stock remove or won't take too much effort to make some thinner knives with stock removal. It is 3.5 mm thick (around 0.138").

I am looking to buy larger pieces of steel, who is you supplier??

It is from an Istanbul steel company. I guess it would cost you a lot to import to your country.

BTW it cost me only 400 $ including shipment :D:cool:
