Back in Reno and a couple of updates.

Glad to hear you still seem up after the trip.

LOL In a way, I'd have almost been disappointed if the plan had gone smoothly...I mean, I'm all about seeing new and weird things from the Kamis, but there have to be things you can depend on, and Kami stubborness is one of them here. :D

Glad you're back, Uncle Bill!

What would it cost to return the shipment to get their attention?
Keeping them working is a laudable goal, but not when they won't produce what the market/importer dictates.
Denis

Welcome Home, Bill.

Hope you laughed a lot with your friends. :)

Chicken and dumplings? hmmmmmmm. There's no place like home.

Glad that you're home, Uncle Bill. Sorry to hear that the kamis are being a trial, but if anyone can sort 'em out, it's you.

Good to read your posts, too.

Derek.

Got a better idea.....give each one away for $10 (to cover the cost of shipping) and don't send back any compensation.....that'll get their attention... :D

Glad to have you back Uncle Bill. I am just beginning to appreciate the communication issues you have to deal with, and you are almost part of their family! God knows what anyone else would end up with.

Hey, maybe try a little reverse psychology; tell them that you LOVE standard models and don't want to see any experimenting with exotic woods or new blade designs. Only satisaal wood and horn. Bet you'll get flooded with 25" Chitlangis with stag handles! (Now there is something I would pay for!)

Welcome home!

Regards,

Norm

I have more doctoring to get done but I'll plug away at it (for the rest of my life it appears) and still will have time to get in some posts. Not like the old days but you'll know I'm here. And, unless he goes totally nuts, trusty Rusty will be here to keep things going.

I was gonna say something about that last comment, but then I noticed Rusty was looking at this thread too. ;) :p :D

We missed ya. Sorry 2 hear that the "innovation" run went south. Maybe the exotic woods made for a good fire, or something.

I'm imagining setting up some sort of web videoconferencing between Reno and Nepal so UB can look at 'em and yell at 'em.

Hmmm. I guess the "live kami webcams! Watch as they pound steed!" could be another revenue stream. On top of the Kami's Gone Wild videos.

(I'm joking, assuming they have crappy internet service in the shop, but is that true?)

1. I guess the words "artistic freedom" don't mean much in nepal.
2. I can stop circling the water so damn hard.

oh well if it went flawlessly we wouldn't know what to do.

Glad to have an Uncle back at home all the same.

Note to self in Bill's diary:

Next time say "Make what you want *except* standard models"

ps: Nevermind

Reminds me of one of the war stories about the Gurkhas.

They had been asked to bury some of the battlefield dead. Well, actually the officer said something like "bury these fellows." Turned out one of them was unconscious but not dead. He woke up and one of the British officers stopped the Gurkhas just as they were preparing to dispatch the poor wounded soldier. The Gurkhas explained that it would be cruel to bury him alive ...
