Well, I just got the phone call I"ve been expecting, since the War in Iraq started. I've been picked up to be recalled to Active duty. I should be receiving a letter in the mail in about 2 weeks that gives more details, and will probably also contain my orders. I will probably be reporting to my new unit sometime in April. They are pulling 25 of us from my Reserve unit. All the names were the new people, that arrived while, or after my unit came off Active duty. We are all 88M's (truck drivers). We don't know if we will be going overseas or not, just yet. As soon as I get more info, I'll let y'all know more. Guess I better start looking for a bigger storage unit. And see about finding a new home for 3 cats. This could prove to be very interesting. It may be just what I was looking for too. Once I'm on Active duty, I may be able to extend my active time from 18 months, out past two years, and be able to retire from Active duty. Thus I start collecting the retirement check right then, instead of waiting until I'm 60 to get it. I guess We'll see.
What does this have to do with khukuri's, you ask? Well, If I do have to go to Iraq, I'll need to choose which khuk to take with me. Maybe the 12" villager AK, or maybe I'll need to get a new one.

You will be included in the daily cloud of smoke going up from here. Let's hope things work out for you as Yvsa would say: " In a good way."

We'll all be praying for you Bill. Sounds like you're ready for it, which is good to hear.

Thank you Bill. May things go in a good and gentle way for you.:)

Well, if I do end up in Iraq, I at least know what to expect as far as weather and such. I was over there during Gulf Storm. I hope that all 25 of us end up in the same place, at least. I've helped turn some of them into pretty good troops, and would hate to have to start over with new ones.

As to the ready part, yeah, I'm ready. And kind of looking forward to it, in a way. Strange, to be looking forward to going back on Active duty.

Should you, or any of your brothers, need anything in the way of khuks, be sure to let us know.

Good luck, Godspeed, and anything I/we can do to help, just say so.

I hope you find a home for the cats and you can reclaim them if you like upon your return.

I like cats.

Like I told my son when he left......

"Keep your head and azz wired together at all times".

Godspeed.
