back pocket carry

The only knife I've really ever carried back pocket is my M1 Lightfoot (back left pocket).

old pic from when it was newer

When I worked armed security, I would carry my Spyderco Endura in the back pocket due to my holster covering my front pocket. I carried it there for 5 years with no issues other than the clip getting caught in the fabric of some chairs and coming out if I was not careful.

I tried other knives and had the same issue with the clip catching on furniture and such, but the nice broad and rounded tip on the clip of the M1 doesn't catch anything. I carried this way with the M1 for probably a year straight and never had an issue. Still makes it's way into my EDC from time to time (still carried in the back left pocket too:thumbup:).

My normal carry is a slipjoint in my right front pocket and a one-hander in my right rear pocket. Been doing it for years. Never damaged any knives.

I've carried a large folder in back left pocket most of my life, in all kinds of pants, generally cargo pants with flap, but also jeans and dressy britches too. No clip, just sits upright next to wallet. Yeah, have to often reset it when I pull wallet, but quick second nature, no prob.

Did it with a Buck 110 most of life, then a 4" Voyager, now a Spyderco Military (guess I wanted lighter carry in my old age :)). I do carry a Buck Vantage clipped to other back pocket, since it has the type clip where no part of knife sticks above pocket, the only type clip I'll ever use.

Honestly, I always carried my knife in the right front pocket (deep carry), and never felt the need to put it in my back pocket.
Anyway, I don't think it would damage the knife in any way...just some people might find it less comfy (also depends on what knife you are carrying, I guess).

I've always carried my primary EDC RRP tip down. The front pocket has never worked for me, in the past I've bent & snapped clips clean off carrying this way. These days the only knives that make it into my front pocket are small and clipless.

I generally carry my second knife in my RBP. Only once have I had the clip (SOG Flash I) catch on something and get horribly bent, but it bent back just fine with my multi tool. I have never damaged a knife in any other way though when it has been in my back pocket.

I jacked a clip on a SOG flash 2 the same way. I was squeezing between pallets at work and the clip snagged Tge plastic.

I've been kind of easing away from pouch carry and/or lanyard clipped to belt carry in the last year or two. I've been going to a sheeple friendly look.

After work it has been watch pocket carry. I guess I'll try a few different knives in the back pocket and from now on, at work I'll sit on it.

i wouldnt worry about damage. i did it with a delica that i ended up losing and had to replace. i also did it with a chive. i took the clip off the delica but not the chive. the chive was rough on my wallet and ended up leaving a hole in the back pocket of a pair of jeans. i never did clip the knife i just dropped it in my pocket with my wallet.
