Hey y'all

here are a few warncliffe knives that i made out of some flattened truck springs. these knives are great because you can stick them in you back poket and they wont pierce the poket..and there is no need for a sheath...they are a great size...right inbetween a pocket knife and a full blown belt knife. these were differentially heat treated and brine quenched...but the hammons wernt very pretty and i am still trying to figure out how to etch them any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Specs:
Length: 7-7 1/2"
Blade: 3"+
Steel: High carbon spring steel from a truck. Differentially heat treated in a Charcoal forge and tempered.
Thickness:1/4"
Finish: black with high polish blade
Handle: 550 para cord

$80 + shipping
please email me an let me know which knife you are interested in at Knifemaker87@gmail.com

Back pocket with no sheath....scary! Sweet lil knives, though!

Ditto that.....especially the scary part. You we're joking about no sheath & the back pocket, weren't you???

I was serious....they wont cut through your pocket and stay secure enough for personal comfort (mine anyway) nothing wrong with a sheath, i just dont use one. I all of my experiences it has been fine.
maybe this is my naivete but i havent had any problems at all. shaving sharp...not gotten cut once carrying them back there.
now if you wear real loos clothing....
they work great in jeans
hope i'm not scaring you off... =)

Well, not to be rude, but I think you are being naive on this one. For safety reasons, I wouldn't recommend to anyone carrying a knife that way. Carrying an unprotected blade & point in your back pocket is an accident (unpleasant) waiting to happen. Sooner or later that move is gonna bite ya in the ass. (literally) Why learn the hard way??

thanks for the advice. advice heard...advice taken
i think that i may relist these once i have some sheathes for them. i need some help finding where to find supplies and how to make kydex sheathes. any advice?
thanks

  Nothing wrong with learning.....it's something we all can do from day to day. Good luck in your knifemaking......keep 'em sharp!

I'll take one. When you get the sheaths made for them. I think just a simple leather slip sheath would look nice on them. Since you intened for them to go in a back pocket.

why not make a little leather sheath like Blackjack does for its Slick? Look at Newgraham, I think they have them.

I too like the looks of these Wharnie utility blades but as I prefer a front pocket slip sheath carry for small fixed blades, the lack of a sheath here became a non-starter. I look forward to your re-post and vote simple leather for a sheath.

working on the sheathes....i was thinking of re wrapping them with the cord out of the inside of the para cord...giving it a flatter profile...comments? i also have black...preferences?
also...these sheathes...belt loops or not?
thanks
~Chris

I've seen blades with the paracord wrap, wherein the inner core was pulled out and the outer part used for the wrap. Looks awesome, you get that flat japanese-style look to the wrap.

I would try that if you're up to it.

I like them a lot, but I wouldn't carry a knife without a sheath. Perhaps I'm just a wuss...

I think black is overused. The tan works well. I'd stick with that. Perhaps you could try tying a big Turk's head wrap. That would certainly garner some attention.

An interesting back pocket sheath idea is the flat sheath that has the profile of a wallet. I also like the spring-clip pocket sheath ala the Graham Brothers.

These aren't the style knives I look for, so I can't comment on the wrap. As for the sheath, I'd put a belt loop on it to make it more versatile. The more ways it can be carried, the better (& more appealing) it is.
