I haven't been around much, but it might happen even less for a while. I'm going back to Afghanistan. This time, though, I'm supposed to have better accomodations, travel by chopper, and not be assigned long hours guarding the perimeter. ;) I should have a chain of command that mostly exists outside the country, and my resume should look better when I finish, instead of just making me more attractive for agencies that carry firearms. (Hey, maybe I can move away from the horror that is the DC area!)

I should be back in country before the end of the year. Just wanted to let y'all know.

John

Need anything?

Um...

There might always be something. But, as it stands, I think I'm good, for now. :)

does that mean you live in the DC area ?-- I live in Alexandria VA -- if you ever want to catch up - i could put on some coffee or buy ya a beer or 3 -- maybe you could give me some ideas for blades and the shop i am trying to build in my back yard

- meanwhile -- safe travel's and remember the 6 P's

-- seriously though - be safe -- Eric

Eric,

I fly into DCA late Fri night. Send me your contact info and days or nights you have free next week. We can get together before I report in. I like coffee. I like beer. I'll bring some blades. :)

John

Contractor-ing? I have a good friend there working his third tour with Dyn now. Be safe!

Thanks, alamborn. Should make it back in time to celebrate my 41st birthday in the states.

Raghorn, I'll be working for an alphabet agency, but paid by the Army.

Met with Eric and his family today. Lots of time to play with large sharp things. :) A great time was had.

I'm at Fort Belvoir/Springfield today, and free, but no wheels.

I fly to Benning tomorrow.

Got here safely Monday afternoon. Afghanistan still looks like a post-apacolyptic movie, and smells like dirty wet dog.

I really like my current CO, who I'll be replacing. I'm trying to plan a nice Christmas for my little team~ pull them in a few days before, and give them time to rest and talk to family and friends.

You're a good man, John.
Honored to know you:) Please take care of yourself, Godspeed, and good luck.
