Back to the Sands

I can't believe i didnt post here yet......:o

While i'm dismayed that you got deployed just before the holidays, i believe there is rhyme and reason for everything. You are a good man, john. Please watch out for yourself, as well as your crew. We want you back with us safe and sound. Keep us posted. Stay in good spirits. If theres anything we can do, you know you need but let us know.

Thanks, guys.

Karda, I wanted to deploy, for a few different reasons.

I should be about as safe as anyone can be in this country. Tom, if you especially want to pray for my team as they coordinate and advise at FOBs, may your prayers be heard. :)

Peace,

John

Good to see you again John! (I still have your KT Sub-9 by the way...:))

I remember when Sogguy and Aardvark and I sent you that big Operation IF folder the first time you deployed over there, and wasn't that like in the Fall of 2006? Dick was still alive then. Can't believe it's been that long.

Take care of yourself and come back safe.

All the best,

Norm

Spectre,

I don't know why but I thought you were out of the miltary?

You still need to get those goats bro! :)

Hollow, I was in the IRR (inactive reserve) before and after my last deployment. I got back into a TPU (a reserve unit) in early 2009 while I was finishing my master's, and finally commissioned a year ago. This time, I am taking control of my own little team- which actually is responsible for 1/3 of Afghanistan, for the job that we do. I'm in Bagram right now, for an OIC meeting. Met with the Disposition Services Commanding Officer for the country. :)

Norm, I am continually thankful for the many kindnesses given to me and my fellow service members. I have collaborated with some friends to arrange a nice little Christmas for my team, who I'll pull in a few days early, to give them some down time to relax, rest, and talk to their loved ones.

Thanks, Eric. Peace to you, my friend.

Hey, Spectre, I'm in RC East right now (in Nuristan). If you get over this way, send me a message. I'm mostly out walking around the countryside, but I get inside the wire pretty regularly. I'd love to say hey for Christmas if you get out here near Kalagush.
