For some time, I carried a Queen small cocobolo stockman, in addition to a small single blade Benchmade or Spyderco. After some time, I stuck the stockman in the knife roll, and started carrying just a sub 3" folder and a 3.5" to 4" folder. However, several months ago, I picked up a Spyderco Dyad Jr, and carried it for awhile. I liked the muskrat style design, but decided to stop carrying it. After not knowing if I wanted it or not, I decided to start carrying it again, and now I barely use the large and small folders. I initially liked the knife because it was a traditional design manufactured by a company I like, Spyderco, in an updated package (ATS55 steel, micarta handle). Are there any other companies that have done similar models like the Dyad Jr. Not Case, Queen etc putting out an old design with updated steels, but a company known for their tacticals, producing their version of an old design? Thanks.

Cold Steel makes a few. Buck, too, I think. I've seen a few others kicking around. Sort of "neo traditionals".

The problem is, most people who like traditional styles like traditional materials, too, so these tend to appeal to a narrow market segment, which makes them harder to find.

I've been trying to persuade Sal to make some more Spyderco versions of old styles. I'm seeing him this weekend, so I'll try again! You never know your luck! :D

Moved from Traditional forum. (where we are strictly traditional) :D.
